Send in your 1910s heavyweight contender to stop prime Larry Holmes

I’ll send in Porky Dan Flynn first just to let Larry get his muscles loosened up and allow him to acclimate to the situation.

After that KO1, I’ll have someone else ready.

He is the obvious choice ,in fact the only real choice,but Sam had serious problems with good jabbers.I'd put Holmes at the very top as far as the left jab is concerned.

 

I agree. Only Ali, and Liston are above him for my money.

I’ll also point out that Larry came out of retirement in the early 1990s in pursuit of a showdown with Lara Flynn Boyle after her rise to fame on ‘Twin Peaks’ but she hid behind Kyle MacLachlan and ducked Holmes.

 

Bunch of random contenders to wear Holmes down/out, then send in Langford when Holmes is pretty ringworn.

 

Fighting during Larry's prime... 1910s heavyweights, as great as they were, would probably have trouble with refrees, equipment and gloves.

With that said, I'll go with Joe Jeanette. Footage shows that he had good head movement and seemed to have a good sense of distance, so that should help against the jab. He also had legendary durability.

If the ref allowed it, he might have been able to do some good work on the inside.
