With Loma likely out for the balance of 2023, I'd like to see him return to 130lbs next year and challenge rising standout Emanuel Navarette for the WBO strap. Nava's size, engine, and power would make this fight more appealing than a match against any of the other 130lbs belt holders. Assuming Loma and Navarette are both amenable, the financials could be ironed out in-house. Thoughts?
I want Loma to fight Foster. It would be very good fight. Navarrete is very limited and Loma would beat him like he did Nakatani
I agree with most of the sentiments posted. I suspect Loma stops him late. I imagine Nava is the best of a relatively unimpressive lot ( Cordina, Garcia, or O'Foster), hence my interest in the fight if Loma returns to 130lbs.
I said after the Haney decision Lomachenko should move southward. He will get more life out of his career that way and I imagine he could shore up the top spot quickly, granted there aren't major political hurdles.
Loma for as talented as he is, is aging. I think the Haney fight was his last great performance. If he chooses to start late against Navarette, that will not be a good look going into the second half of the fight. Navarette is peaking whereas Loma is coming down. He would be 36 by the time they fought. Haney was easy to figure out because he’s a conventional fighter. Navarette is simply an octopus puzzle, with great stamina. This wouldn’t be as easy as most people think for him.
You could be right. While I think Loma figures Nava out mid-fight and stops him late, I think the Mexican's engine and punch output would make for an entertaining fight. Cheers, homie!
If Loma hasn't lost anything since his win against Haney, then he should win. Shame his pride won't let him go down to his natural weight.
