The Benitez fight to demonstrate his brilliant overall skills and especially his jab , how it set up his combo's against a defensive genius.
The Duran fight in Montreal.
Though a clear loss, it demonstrated his infighting ability against possibly the greatest in fighter of them all, his ability to fight through adversity and a rough start and win the last 4 rds.... Also this fight may have planted the seed in Duran's mind of of " I fought my absolute best" and didn't dominate..... Thus New Orleans....
Thomas Hearns, possibly the most physically challenging welterweight in history. Leonard tried boxing on the outside, that wasn't working, shifted gears, became more flat footed, and body punched . Both fighters demonstrated extraordinary ability to change tactics in the heat of combat. But Leonard was relentless, sometimes took two to get in one, but eventually walked Hearns down to get the win.
Most great fighters have great physical skills, Great fighters can adapt, they Have a plan B and C if A isn't working. Great fighter have heart and determination.
Ray Leonard was a great fighter.
Proved it by fighting great fighters...

 

I think Hearns’ Cuevas performance would be THE one I’d show. Unbelievable.

All good picks from my fav boxer, for me his win over the exceptionally strong and tough Menetery was a standout performance, the seasoned, belligerent, frenchman was fundamentally outboxed for most of the 15 rounds, Napoles glided in and out of range, his salvos perfectly timed, hooks, uppercuts, and his rapier like jab, connected time and again, there was nothing the befuddled Menetrey could do in response, game and resilient, always trying to land on Napoles, the rare times he did, only compounded what a great chin the champ possessed, at the time the mags and pundits thought that it might be a difficult defense for the long reigning title holder, such was not the case, a great fighter showing his mettle, thank god for YT.

The oft worshipped sometimes maligned
Mike Tyson

1. His 91 second destruction of Michael Spinks showcased his quick fire explosive brutality at world level.
Not to mention that fearsome intimidatory presence and his firepower and world class finishing.

2. Tyson’s 5 round TKO victory over Frank Bruno. A strange choice some might say, but this one highlighted his world class chin when faced with one of the worlds most fearsome punchers at the time catching him full flush in his face with a hellish shot. Tyson stayed on his feet, quickly recovered and nullified the threat before going on to win.

3.Tyson’s points victory over Razor Ruddock in their second fight.
“Mike fades after halfway they say.” If he doesn’t put them away quickly he loses heart they say.”
Well he didn’t fade or lose heart in this one despite Ruddock giving his all and not recoiling or being cowed or intimidated by Tyson’s attacks.
Not the greatest performance by Mike, but a pretty dominant one by the end. He showed he can fight well for 12 rounds against the top contender of the time, he can absorb multiple shots by a fearsome puncher, remain focused and unbowed, and go on to win comfortably.

Your kind words are very flattering thank you, I get as much enjoyment writing my posts, as I hope the forum get reading them, I fully appreciate the posters that enlighten us with the stats ala @Richard M Murrieta and bow to there vast knowledge over the decades, for me I like to write as if we were ringside in a way, and to give a little background to these great fights and fighters, not a poster that goes in for ding dong arguments about who beats who, rankings, P4P, best of three, etc, and yes George with your blessing, I will endeavour to continue in this vein.
