so 1973 onwards

2 of Ali's best fights happened in 74 and 75, the rumble and the thrilla, but his fights after the thrilla were shabby, in 73 he had his second fight with Frazier which is arguably the least exciting of the three, he lost to Norton and then barely squeezed a decision against Norton, most of the praise Ali receives as being "the greatest" outside of beating Foreman and his wars with Frazier are from his pre-exile days and also his out of the ring presence, so I am not including Ali

I think the four are obligatory, Duran, Hagler, SRL, Hearns

Tyson, there was no one near him in the 80's, Ring ranked him as #1 p4p in 89, and he was still formidable post prison

Foreman, as some of his better fights happened in the late 70's and he ended up transcending into the 80's and 90's with good performances

gotta include RJJ, started out in the late 80's and the longevity of his span

Pacquiao, and Mayweather considering he beat Pac and Canelo in his late 30's and Canelo would go on to be such a dominating figure of the sport
