Vyacheslav Valeryevich Datsik vs. Oliver John Thompson, 3 rounds @ heavyweight

 

Thompson walked out to a macho string arrangement with a pair of hot blonde chicks lining either side of the rampway, garbed in what I can only describe as "sexy Buckingham Palace guard costumes" (yes with the furry tall hat).

Datsik came out amongst several dancing men in loincloths.

 

Okay that was NUTSO.

Datsik came out windmilling like a madman, initially herding Thompson into the ropes, but then got hurt by a short counter right from Thompson, making him warier. They circled for well over a minute in the middle of the ring, swapping turns firing in short bursts. Datsik was busier but Thompson was doing the better cleaner work with the jab, uppercut, and combinations. Two minutes in I was prepared to start typing 10-9 Thompson, but then Datsik beaned him with a looping right upside his left temple. Thompson looked dazed and sat on the middle rope staring off into nothing for a moment. The ref and Datsik looked at each other like "wtf?" before Datsik remembered it's protect yourself at all times so he was free to hit him more absent the ref saying he couldn't. Datsik landed a couple more haymakers and Thompson never quite went down but careened across the ring into the opposite set of the ropes, cut and half-conscious and was waved off.
