Sure... But the beltline is narrower than the contact patch of a punch.

So it's not possible for the punch to be *only* on the beltline, it has to be on-and-above, on-and-below or on-above-and-below.

Part of the punch being on the beltline or even above it doesn't excuse any part of the punch that's below the beltline - it's still not allowed.

That's why, for me, this is quite clear - there's absolutely no way this is all on and above, there's definitely a decent chunk of that punch that's below the belt, and that's enough to make it a correct call.

 

LOL I'm sure the pic from the other angle is a split second after the pic the Op has used. That means the glove is higher on the body. Also, take into consideration that the angle the OP has used, is a straight on side view. From that view you can better determine the glove position at impact on the body. This is not a from behind side view or a from the top angle. From this pic, it's clear as day, a low blow.

I did see a vid, not sure if it is the one you are speaking of. I will say, in the spirit of integrity and objectivity, I went back and looked at Ward/Kov 2 and I must say, if I claim Dubois went low, then, I admit, that I must change my mind on Ward and agree with fans claiming that Ward went low.
Now, if I understand the lowblow rule, a punch is low if it lands below the belly button. In the OP's pick, Dubois's punch looks below Usyk's belly button.

Picture? There is a video from the exact front angle where the whole punch is clearly visible and where it's land, the whole trajectory, etc, etc.

As far as the other picture, this video proves exactly what i was been saying, they have the make screenshot exactly after the shot, at it's highest point, and this was uppercut.
The video clearly show the initial point of contact which is what matters.

If any of the contact patch of the punch is below the beltline then it's a foul... Those examples were ruled wrongly in my view - ruling this wrongly as well wouldn't do anything to fix that.

For Usyks shorts to be so high that all this punch is above the beltline.. I just can't see it - even if not quite all of the punch is below, I think a strong majority of it is and that makes it a correct call IMHO.

 

I cannot see how DuBois could be given two rounds, let alone one.

Dubois punch was not a low blow. Another ref, another fight location
and Dubois is the champ. This is sad because it effects his career in
a major way. Usyk will squeeze out one more payday and retire after losing,
probably from a shot to the solar plexus like Dubois did.
