Was the European vacant, I’m not sure? It probably was. The first fight with McKenzie was so funny when he bounced him off the canvas and he got up mouthing to the referee he was fine lol. He had that vacant look on his face and was questioning why he was giving him the 8 count. Complete clown. If I lived near him, I would move.

He in the complete definition of a paper champion. Boxed an actual champion against Stevenson and his performance was up there with Whyte against Fury. Pitiful, was gagging for a way out.

sadly not heard of him, just checked and he was born in 1892 so I'm forgiving myself on that one. I do like reading about the older fighters. Article in Boxing News this week about a Brit who fought a champ in the 1930s, the champ had fought 27 times in a year. We praise them if they fight 3! Different breed.

Shocking really how so called boxing fans haven't heard of Jimmy Wilde

 

I have heard, and read his story, an astonishing fighter, (and coolest collection of nicknames ever owned), but I'd say it's difficult to put fighters such as Wilde into context, as the sport was so different then, and there's a dearth of footage of him.


It's a shame, but that's the way it is.


But he was a terrific champion indeed, and I hope the *******s that mugged him when an old man met some serious karma.
