Just curious for those of you who followed him during his days, did Hagler avoid anyone?

He would have lost to a prime time Monzon. Hagler barely beat an old blown up lightweight in Duran and lost to Leonard. Monzon would have outpointed him by a wide margin.

Count me in. Best chin for the past 50 years. Beat so much iron on his march to the title. Was diminished and slow when he lost to Leonard and it was still very close. In his prime, best middleweight of all time.:smoke :smoke

Well you overrate him, but he was a true ATG. One of the very best ever at MW.

Monzon almost lost to a shot Emile Griffith in the rematch, someone could easily bring that up as well.

The reason Hagler almost lost to Duran was because the judges were drinking whiskey.

Hagler won 10 or 11 rounds.

The level of respect for the GREATEST of ALL TIME is lacking lately...

Marvelous Marvin Hagler is the ATG Middle Weight.

Hagler is truly one of the most underrated ATGs here on ESB.

But there is no need to knock on SRL.

Much kudos for the post. You catch ppl whom really have 0 knowledge of him talking bad about him. Most of the heat he gets is from fans who just started watching boxing and dont know their history. But ppl need to watch what they say and show some respect for the greats that gave of us the opportunity to even know the sport.

It was more important for Sugar Nose Leonard to run all night, than to actually fight in the most important fight of either of their careers. Had to keep that cash comin for that nose candy...

In the words of the great Rick James..."Cocaine is a helluva drug."

I rate him just behind Monzon personally at MW, both behind Greb based on resume. But on film, I rate Monzon the highest at MW and I'd favor him a close fight over Marvelous prime for prime.
