Who's the most intelligent fellow to ever enter the ring?

Who, do you think is the smartest dude to ever become a professional boxer? Ali, was witty obviously until he was damaged. Sugar Ray seemed like a smart guy until his recent commentary stint. When Oscar was active, he was very articulate but anyone who sticks spatulas up his ass, can't be too clever.
I remember the Nathan Cleverly, scholar angle. Beterbiev seems like a smart cookie.

Yep, smart dude. Street smart too, I guess you could say. He must have used his time inside to great effect.

 

I remembered watching an interview of Dmitry Pirog on TV, the guy seemed very smart.

 

Wlad and Vitali

 

Bonecrusher Smith has a degree in Business. Also Vitali and Wladimir got degrees.

 

Usyk, Ali, Inoue, Klitschko brothers, Mike Tyson (he is like a wine). I would say Foreman as well.

And I am a big fan of Lennox Lewis, but not sure if he is smart. Maybe he is smart, but way too boring out of the ring.

 

Lamotta - he maybe did not do good things in life and made some bad moves, but the guy is intelligent.

 

Let's be real.
Being able to talk a bit on camera, stringing a sentence together, having someone put your brand on a grill ... only shows how low standards are for boxers.
Cleverly has a university degree in mathematics.
He would have to be the smartest by far. A lot smarter than the pretentious Klitschkos too.

Became an executive of multiple businesses (including outside the U.S.). Authored books. Was close friends with literary types. Fathered a U.S. senator.

I honestly can't think of anyone else that comes close. Although I do think there are some mad genius types like Dempsey and Tyson. Genius in one very particular area.

Foreman all seemed quite articulate and smart even if they werent educated in the traditional sense.
Same for Andre Ward.
Wlad is smart.
Fury is smart but also mentally unstable and currently inexcusably cowardly.

I think his dad wanted him to become a lawyer. Barrera didn't even need to fight. His family was very well off.
