Calling him basic is off base. He's textbook, but not basic in that he's not predictable or limited.

But from a technical standpoint a lot of what he showed was outstanding.

He was really a phenom back in his early days. On the level of Lopez IMO at his very best.

most people remember(or have only seen) the later days of camacho, it a shame really, because he was a special fighter in his best form.

His overall performance was outstanding. But nothing in his technique makes you step back and say "wow".

His jab is very good, not great. His defence is very good, not great. His combinations are very good, not great.

    But overall, he was great.

His footwork and ring generalship were great. His combinations(up to 3-4 punches) were excellent, he just wasn't much of a trader and didn't let his hands go for flurries. He pretty much went by the book, and better than pretty much anyone. Of course, that did limit him in comparison to certain ATG's like Whitaker, Jones Jr., Duran, etc who added their own flavor and dimensions to the ring.

I'd rate him below Lopez, although perhaps not by all that much. I agree that he was an absolutley outstanding fighter at peak. I was actually thinking about him yesterday, couldn't decide whether I wanted to watch/post about him or Lopez. Went with Lopez inthe end.

He does wow me. That's exactly what he does. I think this is a matter of personal taste.

I disagree with this. The fighters who are firing as perfectly on their fourth and fifth punch of any given punch are few and far between, and because he already so accurate and technically perfect he may even be unique.

You are a little underwhelemed by him which disturbs me, but your read of him as "basic" and underestmation of him as a combination puncher aside, I think you make a fair appraisal.

Yeah, what the **** were you doing here? I just casually passed over your posts when I realized they were completely off topic. Looking back, what the hell?
