    I don't need to reread the post I understood it perfectly, and it doesn't make a difference. Bob Foster is naturally bigger than Golovkin, and Golovkin's only performance above Middleweight was vs Canelo in their 3rd fight in which he looked poor. So why in the world would I logically think Golovkin does well vs Foster at a scheduled Light Heavyweight bout ?

    As for Tyson and Hearns ? How is comparing a 220 pound Heavyweight to Hearns in anyway relevant to Golovkin/Foster ? Simple answer it isn't.

    I've read he was 168lbs on fight night, but don't know if it's true.

    I record my weight first thing each morning and last thing each night. I'm typically 2-3lbs heavier at night, with no attempt to "make" weight in the morning.

    Why do you think weigh ins were moved to the day before? What do you think boxers were doing that was deemed dangerous? And what impact do you think that had on their weight, relative to the weigh in, when they fought c.10-hours later?

    And he weighed as high as 175lbs for LHW title fights.

    In a non title fight vs the LHW Vernon Macintosh, a fight sandwiched between LHW title defences, just 2 months before his next title defence, he was 182lbs at the weigh in. He'd have likely been 185lbs+ in the ring that night. Foster didn't eat his way up there, it was key he kept his weight low that close to a LHW title defence, that was just what he weighed, when he was keeping his weight low, but didn't have to cut right down to 175lbs.

    A mistake I've seen multiple posters make when comparing weights in fantasy fights between a fighter who competed in the same day weigh in era vs an opponent who competed in the day before weigh in era, is they compare the reported fight night weight of the modern fighter with the recorded weigh in weight of the old fighter. That's not comparing like for like. The former is recorded in the evening, the latter typically before lunch.

    Men Foster's size typically weigh c.3lbs heavier in the evening than the morning. That's without any attempt to make weight in the morning.

    I could skip tea tonight, eat or drink nothing until lunch time tomorrow, weigh myself, then drink water, have a couple of meals throughout the day and I'd be 5lbs+ heavier at night than my lunch time weight. No extreme dehydration. Yet weigh ins were moved to the day before because boxers were de and then rehydrayting to dangerous extremes. There's no way to be certain about Foster specifically, but he certainly would not have been an outlier to weigh c.180lbs in the ring for his peak LHW title defences.

    He’d weigh about 1-2lbs heavier than he did in the morning weigh in.

    1) I think, and I'll use as polite a term as possible here, that, that is unlikely. I weighed more than 2lbs heavier in the evening than I did in the morning yesterday, as I do most days, and I wasn't attempting to make a specific weight in the morning, whilst being as big & strong as I possibly could be later that evening, taking on energy rich foods in the intervening period.

    2) Why do you think weigh ins were moved from the day of the fight, to the day before the fight? What do you think boxers were doing that made the authorities deem that necessary, from a safety perspective?

    This could not be repeated often enough, especially for how rife with misinformation this forum has become around this topic, in particular. Many do, unfortunately, fall for the faulty reasoning you describe. I'll go even further and say that, for how persistently it has spread, I can only assume a subset of the people holding this opinion either consciously or subconsciously do so to invalidate today's talent pool in hypothetical match-ups with the darlings of the past.

    Many thousands of people have been a part of the sport as combatants through the decades at this point. When weight-making is a central part of the sport- for all its history, really- it is terribly misguided to think the only distinction to be made is between the pre-modern and modern eras. Men before the 1980's didn't all fit within 8 or 17 weight classifications. There will always be some who are able to use or abuse the rules to their greater advantage.

    Likely, but watching him in with Kendall I thought that someone who could box a bit - famously durable and capable of stopping guys as big or bigger then Foster would make for something different then the usual programming - great or not GGG had a great hard head and wasn’t a little guy.

    Golovkins record against light heavies is 0-0-0. . Jacobs stepped on the scales weighing 159 pounds. Not a huge guy. Observers noted how his legs looked like chopsticks and Golovkin was going to shatter his chin into a million pieces

    The answer was 182lbs. His record against guys who’d be LHWs in Fosters era is what matters.

    The flak GGG gets is nothing short of amazing.

    * Olympic Silver Medalist
    * 345-5 amateur record
    * Never knocked out or down in 400 amateur and professional fights
    * 21-1-1 in Middleweight title defenses, the loss a majority decision one and the draw one of the most disputed boxing decisions of this century, both to the current undisputed 168 champion.
    * Rated #1 boxer in the world from September 2017 to September 2018

    All this being said, some good points were made in this thread that I agreed with pointing to a probable Foster win. For one, GGG did indeed fight differently against dangerous sluggers, employing an outside boxing style instead of his heavy pressure front foot slugger/counter punching style. Against an atg puncher at what would be a rehydrated 168 fight today, he would certainly be cautious. This segways into the second point brought up that was valid, his transition from defence to offense was not elite. This would compound the more cautious style he would employ against Foster who would enjoy a 78 to 70 reach advantage over GGG. While I think GGG is more skilled, this reach & power dynamic Foster presents would be an issue.

    Foster by competitive decision.

    It's so obvious his weight increase would have been more than that, I can only assume you're trolling, so will leave you be.
