Navarette is too slow and would be even slower at 35 imo, Shakur would work him. I think William Zepeda would be a good fight, which I'd prefer. Kambosos isn't a bad fight either, and would take the fight too.

Zepeda has looked good and has earned a **** imo, we all wanted Frank Martin but it isn't going to happen anytime soon. Zepeda is a bigger name than De Los Santos who might be a frontrunner, it's just he's with DAZN and GBP.

So you think Stevenson is not so hot and knows it and is pricing himself out of fights with such as Martin? And Haney? And Tank? And Lomachenko? Maybe he should move up to 140? You think he'd have an easier time trying to get Teofimo Lopez or RooGARUUUU!! into the ring? Or Josh Taylor? Or Kambosos? But he's afraid he'll lose his zero to them and would price himself out there too?

If so, I disagree. However much of a little **** he may (or may not) have been outside of the ring, I believe he's the actual boxing goods and 9/10 these guys really don't want that smoke. Lomachenko 3 years ago or Teo maybe, but the rest? Nel, hijo. That's why I think he should try to fight Navarette. I think Navarette might be the type to not gaf about what the people around him put in his ear and is big and strong and tough enough to think that Stevenson is soft and that he could walk him down and beat him up and full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes. And he has that Weirding Way, with which might be able to **** up a gifted technical boxer. So maybe he could...

Beyond that, Shakur should start looking to move up to full welter, imo.

I think Stevenson is a terrific if largely untested young lightweight. Nevertheless one can "price themselves out" not out of fear that they will lose their "zero" but rather because they overestimate their relative market value. The end result is the same but the animating principle--over valuation of one's worth as opposed to fear of losing-- is very different indeed.

That would be the case I was making if I had access to the financial details of each offer. Since I do not, I merely expressed a curiosity as to whether that could be the case.

This is exactly what I’m getting at. We all know he has all the gifts to be successful, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to get paid like it. He seems to want these massive paydays, and I don’t blame him, everyone does. But getting those top tier paydays takes time and effort outside the ring. He’s not a must see attraction.

Yeah that's what WBC mandated as a purse split if they went to purse bids but they agreed terms so it didn't go to a purse bid which likely means they offered Martin more than 40% to ensure it would be promoted by Top Rank and not PBC.

Chris Mannix of NBC Sports said Martin was set to make at least $1 million for this fight with Stevenson. So it's not like he was being paid peanuts to fight Shakur. This is a clear duck, they agreed to terms, so clearly the money and other stipulations involved in making a fight were all agreed and he simply changed his mind and decided he didn't want to risk losing.

 

Time to see if Lomachenko has grown a pair since the last duck! Send him another offer!
