This is just for fun. If you trained yourself to become a professional boxer and you managed to excel in some aspects of your overall abilities to elite level while being average in other areas which one of these attributes would you want have as your biggest strengths?

You can only pick 5 out of the 20 listed.

    1. Speed
    2. Power
    3. Chin / Punch Resistance
    4. Stamina / Conditioning
    5. Footwork (balance, using angles)
    6. Physical Strength
    7. Timing / Accuracy
    8. Head / Upper body movement
    9. Tight guard
    10. Jab
    11. Combinations
    12. Ring IQ (Control in the ring, adaptable)
    13. Reflex (fast reaction, evasive)
    14. Counter-Punching
    15. Body-Punching
    16. In-Fighting (fighting up close)
    17. Work-rate
    18. Closing the distance (cutting off the ring)
    19. Heart (warrior mindset, never give up attitude)
    20. Mental Strength (staying calm under fire and sticking to the game plan)

    2. Mental Strength
    3. Stamina
    4. Chin Punch resistance
    5. Ring IQ

Ali, Holyfield, Holmes, Fury for heavyweights especially it's all about mentality and toughness. No quit. Utter confidence. Unwavering belief. Not milking a borderline bodyshot. To be a savage. An animal. A titan.

High ring iq like Mayweather and Haney. Also elegance and brawling like Cotto: meaning he dances / backpeddles before he makes his next move: can't be a seek and destroyer 100% of the time, but once he resets to offence it's on!

What a man. What a champion.

“People often talk about how Joe Frazier was knocked down six times in that fight, but the amazing thing is, he got up six times. I’d never seen anything like it. I was thinking to myself, if they don’t hurry up and stop this fight, then he’s gonna get me. When Arthur Mercante waved the fight off, I was so happy it was over.” - George Foreman

“They stopped the fight but they couldn’t stop Joe Frazier.” - Muhammad Ali

“If God ever calls me to a Holy War I want Joe Frazier fighting beside me.” - Muhammad Ali

Good question, if I had to pick 5 I’d probably go with these:

    1. Power
    2. Chin
    3. Timing
    4. Head/ Upper body movement.
    5. Stamina

Of course all of us answering this question, could very well be delusional, including myself... and that we'd all fall apart in seconds after stepping foot in the ring. But based on what I perceive to be my strengths... in this order.

    1. Ring IQ (Control in the ring, adaptable)
    2. Heart (warrior mindset, never give up attitude)
    3. Mental Strength (staying calm under fire and sticking to the game plan)
    4. Physical Strength
    5. Power
    6. Chin/Punch Resistance
    7. Timing/Accuracy
    8. Jab
    9. Counter-Punching
    10. Speed
    11. Closing the distance (cutting off the ring)
    12. Footwork (balance, using angles)
    13. Reflex (fast reaction, evasive)
    14. Body-Punching
    15. Tight guard
    16. Head/Upper body movement
    17. Stamina/Conditioning
    18. In-Fighting (fighting up close)
    19. Work-rate
    20. Combinations

So, does that mean the other attributes are sub par or average?

All other attributes you haven’t picked would be average, like a 6/10. The ones you’ve picked would be a 10/10.

Purpose of this thread is to see what skills and attributes you would value the most if you were a pro boxer.

In that case, I pick 1-5. If all those are 10, then you got all you need.
