But all jokes aside I recommend apollacks In The Ring w Dempsey series if you haven't already started given ur username u probably have lol. 2 of 3 books r out and I'm working on buying the second soon. Loved the first!

 

I hear you but I like to get as many details on the fights n training as possible. Books are never the end all bcuz ofc I'd rather take film too but am fortunate for whatever content I can scoop up.

 

Dempsey n Armstrong are the most exciting fighters I've seen in black & white. I do appreciate ppl making colorized versions of black & white films but regardless I'm grateful for any footage of past talents. It's a shame that so much legendary fights either weren't recorded, were lost in time, or possibly in possession of ppl who won't release them to the public. Newspaper accounts and fight breakdowns in general help but just aren't the same.

 

That fight is special for all the dreams of the 1920s - it was a dramatic fight.
I don’t think the champion belonged to the air of the era the flare. Jack wasn’t the under the lights bigger than life type I always imagined or what his style gave the impression of.

Dempsey seemed a quiet young fellow with a bit of a noble temperament, one who could punch really hard and worked at his profession. Someone like Stanley Ketchel is a better archetype to the 1920s and he was born and died a decade too soon.
