Pavlik is simply 34-0 (30) and he has beaten twice previous undefeated title holder Taylor, knocked out Miranda, Zuniga, McKart, went the distance 4 times ( Ross Thompson and Anthony Ivory in 8 in 2004, Edson Mardid in 6 in 2002, Taylor in his first 12 rounder in 08, has 7 1st round kayos, 12 2nd round kayos and another 3rd round TKO win in his last fight and title defense ... I guess Kelly can very well say what the hell he wants but I don't know if Calzaghe runs more than he punches so Kelly can very well shoot him in the arm instead.

you can add up all the first round ko's and how long the fights last that you want but it still dosn't mean pav has any more right to fight an old man then joe c does ...

Wins over Zuniga and Zertuche were not give me's.
At that point in Pavlik's career those were great choices for opponents.
Both of those guys Z & Z have power. There was nothing clear and apparent with respects to a Pavlik win over them going into the fight.
Same with McKart. Solid vet that has beaten very good opposition in the past and gave a good performance against a currently respected fighter in Wright.

In Pavlik's fight with Miranda he was the underdog.

Nothing hypocritical about Pavlik's decision to fight Bhop. If Pavlik whoops Hopkins then it sets the stage for a Pavlik - JC fight. Joe did kinda avoid Pavlik, im sure he would have been willing to come up in weight. I don't blame Joe for taking the payday in Roy but it does give Pavlik a right to throw some chat around.

Pavlik would kill both of them, Sturm has ducked loads of people so why would he fight Pavlik in the States? The answer is he wouldn't. Theres a lack of options out there for Pavlik so I dont really see the problem, Hopkins might be old and have a low work rate but he's still a decent test. It'd be a better win than battering Sturm or some other average fighter.

And I havent said Calzaghe lacked balls either.

They can fight who the hell they want to and make most money doing it. I understood that Kelly said that he has the same right, not more than Joe. And they don't have the duty to fight each other. The one thing I'm saying is that both Joe C and KP can very well say what the hell they want to... What r you gonna say, that Joe should have fought Pavlik and not RJJ and that Pavlik should have fought Abraham at this point? Nobody has a point in saying that KP and JC have said something ridiculous.

Very true. The only fight people want to see at middleweight is against the IBF champ Arthur Abraham. Possibly the only other fight that could be made at 160 outside of Abraham is with the WBA champ Felix Sturm. Grant it, he could have just moved up to 168 and taken on a top 10 contender. But he moved up to LHW and saw BHOP as both 3 $$$ and the official next face at 160 once he beats him. What am I trying to say is that there are very few names at 160 where Kelly can get a good fight and make money as well as put asses in the seats. He needed to move up in weight to make that happen. That's where BHOP is and Calzaghe is at. Who knows if Joe will face him since every day that passes is a big plus for Pavlik if they do meet. Calzaghe is 10 yrs Pavlilk' senior so a fight if this was to occur needs to happen or else, expect a one-sided affair for Pavlik or no fight at all.

Perhaps kelly wants to beat bhop in a more impressive fashion so he can pressure Joe to fight him.

This is how I see this situation...Calz called out Pavlik (after Pavlik Taylor 1) Pavlik was tied up with Taylor re-match (feb this year). Clazaghe fought Hopkins (april) and spoke only of RJJ immediately after the fight with no mention of KP.

Now the current situation - I think Calzaghe knows he's slipping and that was evident in the Hopkins fight. IMO he's taken the RJJ to gauge where he's at, if he's declined too much he'll retire, if not he'll face KP in a big money fight.

KP + Arum have been smart in choosing Hopkins as his next opponent. If KP wins Calzaghe will have to fight him - or retire with this big '?' over his head. However, Hopkins still has enough IMO to pull out an upset (as does RJJ by the way) which makes both fight very interesting.

To summise - Pavlik's comments aren't ridiculous, expect more of these types of comments from both fighters until Calz - Pavlik is signed. I think this fight will happen regardless of Pav - B'hop and Cal - RJJ results, and all the trash-talk is all pre-fight hype.

i think this is quite likely too... after pavlik beats bhop into retirement he'll call out calzaghe and say 'that's how you do it joe' and then the fight will be MASSIVE

exactly. it's publicity generating. plus, nobody knows what goes on behind the scenes with all this ducking bull****. both Hopkins and Roy Jones are bigger draws for Joe, and he is right leaving the KP fight as quite rightly, KP received no acclaim for beating the journeyman that was Gary Lockett (oh and lol to the person who said KP's resume is as good as Joe's. No...just...no...thats not even funny!) and so a KP-JC match up then would've only been sought after by the boxing fans that frequent this board, not your gen. pop. with an interest in the sport and cash to blow on pay per view. After Pavlik beats Hopkins, he'll be a bigger name and then we'll be on a collision course for Joe's final fight against a young prime fighter, and it will be at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff for mad cheddar.

At least he beat Taylor twice, that is better than any of Calzaghes wins.
