i understand taking a new fighter and slowly increase the level of competition.
but lately it seems as though fighters are not given the slow step up any more.
a lot of fighters today want to protect their undefeated record more than challenge themselves.
but to be fair, the cautious approach is a good way to make a lot of money without much risk of getting hurt.

He's weird, a recluse, lurking in the shadows type a guy. His stipulation is he gets paid and you thank him even before god sometimes. If you don't like your producers all up there, dancing in your videos, then come sign with Haymon'd Records.

Also as far as protecting the fighters' health, usually bad things happen when you mismatch fighters. Lower skilled over matched fighters can get hurt. His top, highly skilled fighters have the tools to protect themselves (except Spence) and inactivity just wastes their careers. They don't care if they **** off fans, but if they can get away with it, cool. Whatever floats your goat.

A veteran commentator is essentially saying that fights are pretty much fixed and PBC fighters (not just PBC) are protected from losing …then that this makes boxing less off a sport. I’ve said this before : these mismatches, picking opponents at the right time is not what a sport is supposed to be about. That’s strictly business. Why are boxers getting paid millions to beat up other guys that have barely a chance?

It happens in almost every fight. See Spence Vs Crawford for example, this was a different case, more Spence cashing in against Crawford despite being a shell of himself. But it’s still the same story of one fighter being healthy the other not (or compromised).

& the only reason we are getting the biggest fights this year from PBC
Ryan vs Tank
Spence Vs Crawford
was because Al Haymon was forced into it by Shotime execs demanding return on investment.
As Haymon’s business model after flourishing early was crumbling due to lack of public interest in the repeated tomato can smashing showcases on PPV.

 

I'll say it again, the association of boxing commissions and the British board of boxing need go step up and stop sanctioning these cards with these shenanigans. Put a structure in place that takes the power away from these promotions and belt organizations
