Jimmy Ellis vs Michael Spinks, both prime. Ellis could bang, he like Muhammad Ali spilled Oscar Bonavena to the canvas in Dec 1967 in the WBA Tournament, Jimmy was quick, his punches had snap to them. But can Ellis take the vaunted Spinks Jinx? Can Spinks take Jimmy's right hand? Let's hear some comments on this fantasy bout.

I’m going to choose Michael Spinks to win a narrow decision . A lot of spectators felt Ellis lost to an aged Patterson. And Jimmy wouldn’t have any real physical advantages over Spinks who for the first Holmes fight was 6’2” and 199 lbs and still in his 20’s

Michael Spinks has the better resume but he isn't bringing it into the ring with him.

I go with Spinks, Ellis to me was kind of like the Poor Man's Muhammad Ali.

Two of my absolute faves. I’m going to go with Ellis UD here on a hunch.

I think Spinks would edge him with awkwardness.

Saintpat, I have to agree with you, Jimmy Took bombs from heavyweights like Oscar Bonavena, Leotis Martin and Jerry Quarry, true Joe Frazier took him out twice but Michael Spinks is no Joe Frazier.

I don't know who to pick. But I'll go ahead and bet on the Spinks jinx horse

Jimmy Ellis, I don't think Spinks has anything Ellis hasn't seen.

Jynx is not a pure heavyweight (ATG is), but Jimmy Ellis came from an even smaller division. Michael Spinks is no Joe Frazier, but Jimmy Ellis certainly isn't 1988 Mike Tyson.
Michael Spinks (Holmes 1 fight) defeats every Jimmy Ellis by late knockout.

I like Ellis against any version of Spinks at HEAVYWEIGHT......
Where Spinks proved very little. Also his mobility got worse.
Now below 200 lbs, especially at Lt.heavy Spinks destroys
    Ellis.

Spinks would win. Ellis is a hipster pick.
