Who has the best punch in boxing history?

Very big puncher, no question.

From a P4P perspective I don't think he's quite up there with Jackson for sheer 1-punch knockout power, Louis for beautifully balanced punching form with huge power or the other very greatest punchers in history. However, Valero was certainly very heavy handed, which, allied with his relatively fast hands, southpaw style and extreme aggression, brought that perfect KO record.

Clearly not the biggest tragedy surrounding his life (and not by a long shot), but from a purely sporting perspective, it's a shame we didn't get to see him continue his career & learn how he'd have gotten on against some elite fighters.

 

Yeah it was almost like it was over before it even started. I had great expectations for him as well. Seems he just couldn't escape the drugs and the choas

 

He was involved in a bad motorcycle accident as a teenager/young man. I've seen it postulated that the brain injury he sustained in that incident contributed to his unstable, violent nature. Either way, a tragic story.

 

Do you think he had enough power to take down Manny? Might start a thread on that question.

 

In the sense if he landed his best shot(s), flush on Pacquiao's chin, could he stop him? Yes.

In the sense I'd make him favourite over the Pacquiao that beat David Diaz @ 135lbs? No.

Holyfields counter right hand off a leap back. He could bounce out of range and then bounce right back in with a strait right that was so pretty.

Ray Robinson. The punch that always comes to mind is the sinkerball left hook on Gene Fullmer. Ray rips Fullmer's body hard with the right twice, dips down then goes upstairs with the left and flattens him.

Roy Jones. He could hit you so many different ways perfectly that he was able to break a ton of boxing technique conventions. Montell Griffin II.
