Maybe He wasn't losing many points, but starting from Kessler fighter - He definitely had a reputation among (many) boxing fans as a dirty fighter, which is why He never came to mind when it comes to fighters who are not recognised, for me.

He even “out-dirtied” Tyson for a while in their first fight. I bet Mike was shocked at what was happening to him as Filthy Frank rabbit punched, held and hit and generally dirtied all over him.

I’m sure Mike wouldn’t have complained though.
Unless he had lost of course…!

Shavers actually did a lot - hold and uppercut. Perhaps the most glaring and/or circulated example was in his fight vs Ellis. The commentators were apparently blind to the practice - they barely commented on it if at all.

Marco antonio barrera fouled a lot, other than the odd low blow every now and then which is excusable with the amount he went to the body, he also head butted, hit on breaks (like against pacquiao), hit downed opponents (like against marquez) and pushed and wrestled opponents to the ropes and canvas (like against naseem hamed)
People seem to forget all that because he is a nice and quiet guy outside of the ring

Would the Davey Moore fight be Duran’s best (worst?) all round effort for dirty fighting? And, with a ref who was inexplicably “blind” to it all?

Victor Galindez, I remember when Eddie Mustafa Muhammad fought Victor in Nov 1977 in Italy, both exchanged foul blows but then Galindez complained to the referee, a point was deducted from Eddie, who eventually lost on points in 15 rounds.

    That’s a excellent example Rich.

At the very least, some practitioners of fouls cop it in kind without a whimper.

Committing fouls and then complaining of fouls being committed against you really takes the cake.

I love the old slow mo clip of Dempsey giving Sharkey a small punch as they head to their corners after the end of a round.

An indignant looking Sharkey looks back and then returns serve, popping Jack with a punch in kind.

Dempsey doesn’t blink or stop, he just keeps walking to his corner - as of to say “fair play”. Lol.

It's certainly a solid effort. He had an extremely willing participant due to Davey's inexperience and also as already mentioned an extremely blind mice type ref.
