It's hyperbole to assume everyone thought he couldn't b beaten. Just bcuz you and some ppl around you may have felt that way doesn't mean that was the sentiment for every boxing fan. He lost, even several times afterwards and its hindsight now anyways. Please let it go.

I dont understand why sum ppl think that EVERYONE thought Mike would remain undefeated the rest of his career that really limits the variety of opinions ppl have.

I think the same can be said for literally every boxing matchup that ever existed. People “ thought “ one guy could beat the other

Who said anything about EVERYONE thinking or believing it? I was saying ‘if people did believe it, so what — they also by definition believed he’d best Buster Douglas.’

Nothing wrong w thinking that but just saying it's statistically impossible to assume everyone following boxing around the time did. Unless u were able to survey every boxing fan at the time but I doubt that.

your position seems to be “ well SOMEONE out there probably thought he’d lose. “ And my response to that is - yeah no shlt. Every champion has doubters no matter who they are. But the thread is about “ whether or not people thought Tyson would beat Marciano’s record. “ I can tell you with certainty that the overwhelming majority of people thought that he would and plenty others thought he’d never lose period. He was only 23 years old after all when he crippled the division and was 37-0. This whole idea of yours that “ someone out there “ thought he’d lose is kind of moot because:
    1. It’s hardly a unique idea to think that less than 1% of the population has a contrary opinion. ( Of course they always do. )

    2. Despite the fact that SOMEONE thought he’d fall short of marcianos record was hardly the universal sentiment at the time. ( And yes this view went beyond just me and my group of friends. )

I think a lot did. Many certainly went overboard when he came on the scene... Here was a guy who was actually rated in the top pfp fighters "dynamite dozen" even before he was even rated in the top 5 in the division, which was unusual to say the least.

Yes and perhaps he should have too. But "the Wolves" are unrelenting and can 'break & overwhelm' even the biggest of beasts!

the Monster Men assisted in Tyson's slide & psyche, the Wolves.
