You'd think that after barely getting past Vasil Ducar, he'd be better off not fighting at the top level of the division and maybe fighting for a few regional titles first.

 

Opetaia looked decent but terrible matchmaking for Thompson to be involved at that level. In footballing terms like Manchester City playing Burton Albion in the FA Cup and winning 6-0, doesn’t necessarily prove anything as it’s what expected.

Suppose that’s the sort of opportunities you can get though when you grew up with Frank Smith.

 

Hearn at least knew what he was doing. Not sure why the trainer and manager agreed, probably offered enough money.

No major gossip, in fact it’s public knowledge, you go to Smith’s Instagram and there’s a picture of him and Thompson together as toddlers. Caption was something like “look how far we’ve come”.

Opetaia could give a prime cruiserweight Usyk a tough fight. I'd pick Usyk to win, but Opetaia is no joke. We've finally found a light in the cruiserweight division. Let's hope someone can do the same for 160!
