He should book a date with Nery already, because Tapales has zero chance.

Awesome good to see two champions believing in themselves and just getting the fight made and none of this BS prima donna delaying tactics or lengthy drawn out negotiations which lasts for months if not years.

Inoue has to be the clear favourite, his speed and footwork I think will be the difference. But Tapales did beat Akhmadaliev and has a tricky, awkward southpaw style, with the lean back and counter move he does. Plus since Tapales has moved up too 122, he's seemed to have found his power, stopping 6 of the 7 guys he's beaten, so Inoue can't be complacent.

But in the end if Inoue shows up, I would be surprised if it goes beyond 5 rounds.

No southpaw has gone past 3 vs. Monsta and that includes flyweight legend Narvaez, gone in 4 minutes, and Olympian former champ Payano, gone under 1.

Most fighters avoid southpaws cause it's also fighting muscle memory and takes a few rounds to get adjusted. But southpaw killers are dialed in from the get go and actually surprise lefties who are accustomed to such adjustment period and themselves need to compensate for their mirrored setup, usually leaving deficiencies on stance, side steps and such. Inoue might as well step on Tapales' right foot 30 seconds in and play the Gojira theme on his phone a minute later.

Apparently he's fought here 3 times and I really had no clue. The fight in 2017 he wasn't on my radar yet so I get it, but I remember the Maloney fight
