Bruno replaces Morrison for the WBO Title shot against Foreman in 1993. So how's thus fight play out? Can Frank do what Morrison did out point George? Does this end in another heroic failure for Bruno?
Foreman would probably stop him. He’d land something big and Bruno would be reeling. If he nails him early it wouldn’t look dissimilar to the Cooney fight I don’t think. And Bruno was strictly a front runner. No second winds or recovery for Foreman to worry about. I seem to remember thinking even without the stoppage a sluggish Witherspoon would’ve decisioned him, and Frank started well in that one. And the way Bruno was clutching on to McCall at the end means I’m not even sold that even with Bruno’s good jab he’ll necessarily get a points win here.
I don't see an early ko for George, only Tyson really achieved that. Could Bruno out point him? Well Morrison did but Frank won't fight like that, but his Jab could see him mashing Georges face up, think Alex Stewart. And apart from Moorer, did old Foreman stop anyone late? Call me cynical tho, cos I do actually see Frank losing this, unless he managed to bank the points and somehow hold on for those tough last rounds.
Bruno may have a few moments in the first few rounds, but then poops out and gets stopped as he usually did.
Foreman wouldn't fight frank. The slow pace of George coupled with Frank s jab make this a very dangerous job .
Can go either way, Frank has a history of being ran down late, and foreman has a history of being outboxed by non-elite boxers like Morrison and Stewart. Going on Morrisons and Stewarts histories they should have gotten stopped as well but they did quite well sticking and moving
I don't think Bruno is as versatile a boxer as Morrison. Frank has the better jab but I don't think it was as long or as heavy as Foreman's. I think Bruno would do well at first but I think that once his freshness wore off he'd be exchanging salvoes with Foreman and I'm not sure he has the durability to win that contest.
No disagreements here Bruno with his jab and pop will give Foreman just as much trouble as Foreman’s power and pressure will give Bruno. And especially if you look at the Morrison and Alex Stewart fights, on paper this becomes very winnable for Bruno. But when all is said and done I’d expect the experienced, cool headed fighter’s advantages to come good here and that would be that pressure Foreman will put on Bruno. Bruno was a panicker bound to implode at any moment down the stretch. And Stewart and Morrison really had to box on their bikes at times. Not sure Bruno can pull that off honestly.
A swollen faced George catches up with a tiring Frank around the tenth round mark and stops him. The winner is full of compliments for the loser afterwards "MY God....I thought that Ron Lyle and Joe Frazier hit hard but their power is nothing compared to Frank's. That jab of his is like a battering ram!"
Foreman would win by come from behind knockout after Bruno gasses, we know George ain't gonna gas, he was like a greyhound bus, he didn't get to the destination fast, but he eventually got there............and got there safe
I can envisage George inviting Frank to dinner at the post fight press conference,Fergy. "Hey Frank, how would you like to come for dinner with me tonight? We can have some burgers cooked on my grill. We can show these blown up cruisers how REAL heavyweights eat!"
Something like this. In my view it's quite possible Bruno gets knocked out cold. As Jabba said, Bruno would make things interesting early on.
