Michael Moorer v Trevor Berbick

I going with Moorer by decision.

 

Moorer knocks Berbick down four times with a single shot, breaking Tyson’s record for number of knockdowns of Berbick with one punch.

But they disallow the new record because the three-knockdown rule is in effect and the fourth technically doesn’t count.

Moorer is a stylistic nightmare for guys who didnt have big time firepower.
Holyfield isnt a huge puncher but with his handspeed, combinations and accuracy it makes him just as dangerous.

Youve either got to get inside the jab and take him out like a holyfield, tyson, tua or outscore/or take him out from the outside the way a lennox lewis or a skilled SHW could.

I dont see Berbick just overpowering him.
The 80s group of HWs would have real trouble against him, his jab would go over their low snapping jab and would disrupt their rythms which they all strongly relied on

 

Pretty sure Iron Mike was the only person that ever knocked out Berbick so calling for Moorer to win by ko is odd. I think Moorer is able to outbox Berbick though

I see the fight so that Michael Moorer would win on points; convincingly.

 

Good fight! Berbick is a loose cannon, unpredictable and dangerous, like a Cape buffalo. Moorer is more skillful though, and I think he wins by decision.

 

Edit: found out Berbick was apparently knocked out early in his career, but the point still stands for me. Berbick was durable even well into his post prime. Moorer winning by knockout would've simply not happened. Berbick stood up to bigger punchers at the weight.

 

Actually, in his 12th fight, Berbick was knocked out in the first round by Bernardo Mercado in 1979.

Conversely, Moorer was only knocked out by Foreman and Tua who are regarded as two of the hardest punchers ever in the heavyweight division. Both Berbick and Moorer don't get enough credit for their chins. Both hut the deck a lot but both got up and fought hard throughout their careers.

There is nobody of note at HW that he stopped that hadn't previously been stopped.

He wasn't Chris Byrd...................but he wasn't Shannon Briggs either
