Charr-Miller has fallen through and rumours are stirring that Charr-Joshua for the "WBA regular" will be Joshua's next fight. Would Charr be an acceptable opponent given that Joshua is coming off wins over Franklin and Helenius and a Wilder fight was supposedly "locked in" for December according to Hearn? - Charr is 39, was shot in the abdomen four times 11 days after being one-punch KO'd by Briedis in 2015 and had a double hip replacement in 2017 - Prior to losing to Briedis, Charr lost to Duhaupas, Povetkin and Vitali - Charr was selected as a knockover job opponent for Vitali's farewell fight in 2012 - Charr's best career wins are competitive decisions over Kevin in 2014, Leapai in 2015 and a 40+ Ustinov in 2017 (followed by 3.5 years of inactivity) - Charr was a 67-33 underdog in a proposed fight with a 2+ year inactive Trevor Bryan in 2021: one of many fights that have fallen through for Charr over the years, including Haye, Oquendo (due to Charr failing a PED test) and Browne, with Charr embroiled in several drawn-out legal battles
I'm sure DAZN can't wait to take a big hit on paying Joshua to face a bum in a fight no one wants to see. Game Changed
Does anybody want to waste their time and money with this really? Would you fork out for a ticket to see AJ v Charr?
It'll be in Abu Dhabi so it doesn't matter. Also won't be PPV unless Eubank vs Benn headlines. Joshua can collect the WBA Regular Title and then move on. I don't blame him. Puts him in a good position to become WBA mandatory. I suspect it will be Agit Kabayel though. Good that Joshua will have fought 3 times this year - all on non-PPV. People forget that Kabayel did beat Chisora but he has regressed significantly since. Hopefully the IBF put Joshua ahead of Wallin in the rankings and we see Joshua vs Hrgovic for the vacant IBF World Title after the first Fury vs Usyk fight before they rematch.
Exactly! Who would pay their hard earned money to fund Joshua getting paid millions for fighting a bum. No one cares or wants to see this fight
The OP surely not asking whether Charr is an acceptable opponent for Joshua? Charr would be OK as a punchbag for Frazer Clarke or Wardley types. It is a complete shocker and a stinker for any of the top ten fighting Charr.
How is this even been considered as a fight? This is a complete disgrace that no one wants to see. He may as well not bother fighting if this is the rubbish they're gonna come up with.
Plumbing the depths, this is beyond farce. Matchroom’s leader really desperate after failing to snag part - time, probably shot to bits Wilder. Now he’s going for an actual shot to bits, retired Syrian, with zero form when active, years ago. The excellent opening post for the thread, with the timeline, really covered it all. This is garbage, no wonder the sport is looked down on. Helenius was bad enough, but surely Joshua himself, cannot be so devoid of self - awareness, to go ahead with this rumoured insult to the sport he professes to love.
I don't think heavyweight boxing can be anymore insulted than it already is when the world champion is fighting a non boxer
I honestly think Joshua is so scared of losing again properly, he can't cope with it, he was forced to fight Usyk and lost twice but aside from that Ruiz was an accident
Feather fisted cruisers and obese middleweights are Joshua's kryptonite. That and prime fighters or fighters who hit back. Or fighters his own size. Shot to pieces old name midgets and zero threat bums, no problems.
