What has the premier league got to do with selling it? You've spent half of this last year saying nobody watches sky anymore,it's all about the massive Saudi football league now apparently......or when it suits
Didn’t you know? If your club gets promoted to the Premier League it means all your fans suddenly become interested in boxing.
I bet they are all queuing to subscribe to watch shows featuring 8 stone central americans fighting in hotel function rooms.........the power of the Premier league!
They are good as "an event" as long as they're full and it's a nice day. Warrington vs Selby at Elland Rd was fantastic. Froch vs Groves etc they're more about the event. If your there to watch the fight, unless u have a ringside or outer ringside, don't bother as you'll end up watching it on the screens
Think more than not just see the pound signs and tag along to a football team, seen Connor henn do the hammer signs before, bet he never went near Upton Park
Stand by my post - Tony Bellew fought for a World Title in a half closed stadium and the crowd could have easily fitted in the Echo Arena that night. Football Stadiums are for football, Arenas are built for boxing and concerts.
Have to remember the Hearns turned darts into a sport people watch in arenas on screens, and there's no sign of that slowing down. Across Europe the crowds are still growing - 20,000 people basically watching a telly. Casuals will do it for boxing too, the thing they're buying is participation in an event.
Lol Azim isn't being protected at all... he's fighting for the EBU title in his 10th fight and he's only 21. I would actually say it's the opposite, they're rushing him towards big fights because Boxxer is under pressure from Sky. Compare that to Dalton Smith who's 26/27 and you'll understand what I'm saying. Also british boxing will be fine in the future, you got Adam Azim, Ben Whittaker, Moses Itauma, Hamzah Sheeraz, Conor Benn, Pat Mccormack etc.
Azim is protected in a way that he's only fighting featherfists with 10-30% KO ratio. Just like Matchroom did with Benn. Add British judges to that and essentially these guys can't lose a fight.
By protect I meant about his often spoken about glass chin. There’s a reason he’s not been put in with anyone with more than a 20% knockout percentage besides the limited and smaller charlton. he’s moving quick granted but he won’t be in a competitive fight for atleast another 10 fights
That's fair comment mate and your opinion. But read your post again, that isn't what you said initially. You were mocking the idea of Wood fighting in a stadium simply because it might not sell out, which I called you out on. Good to see you've back tracked.
