That's exactly it. A Saudi event that didn't have any trace of Matchroom or any of their fighters, must have hurt Eddie. To the point where he became so giddy after the Fury fight and said one ridiculous thing after another.

My guess is the undisputed fight will be made for February. AJ, unfortunately will have to accept that he's out in the cold now.

I was wondering when someone on this forum was going to shoehorn a shot at Eddie Hearn into this farce

If I was Ngannou, I would sit tight and wait for the winner of Fury vs Usyk.

Ngannou's credibility as a boxer is not going to get any higher. No point risking that in a fight vs a contender.

For some people on here it's a zero sum game. Fury/Warren/Shalom have a bad night, Matchroom had a good one.

Hearn is a promoter, he's making AJ relevant in the aftermath. No problem with that at all and Warren would have done exactly the same. We don't need acolytes from either side pretending to do their bidding for them.

He did that all by himself, as ever.

At least Ngannou can console himself with the knowledge he's now Cameroon's #1-ranked heavyweight. Ahead of the other one, Wapet Rudel Mbeunkeu.

Thinking about the fight last night, if you ignore all the intricacies and nuances in Fury's boxing ability, you can broadly break down two styles of fighting for Fury. You have the defensive and skilled 'stay on the outside' approach, flicking out the jab, circle your opponent, don't over commit and win on points which we saw for most of his career and most famously used against Wlad to win the title. Then you have the more aggressive 'Kronk style', 'come forward', bully, lean on and wrestle approach which was masterfully implemented against Wilder in their second fight.

I think Fury fell in love with the second approach as it's the style that sells tickets and get's everyone talking, but as the saying goes 'styles make fights' The Kronk style was perfect for Wilder and fighters that Fury can bully with his size, but it's really not a wise move against someone who's biggest attributes are dynamite left hooks in both hands and more importantly, spends an enormous amount of time wrestling and grappling at the highest level.

Maybe because of the magnitude of the event he felt he needed to steam role Ngannou and put on a show. I think there's an element of him taking Ngannou lightly and falling in love with his own strength which could have lost him the fight.

The public will decide that the fight gets made. Bank upon this. Social Media traction is an immense tool these days.

    Beterbiev v Bivol

Appreciate many will disagree, and it's fair to say the HW fight will generate far more interest and dough, but I think the clash of styles will make the actual bout far more intriguing than Fury Usyk personally which I can see being quite dull.

Beterbiev being one my favourite fighters helps too of course!

Sadly I think there's a good chance that we'll never see either bout.

Very good post. It was evident early on that Fury had no chance in the clinch. Francis was a lot stronger and knows damn well how to box in the clinch. Fury hasn't boxed and moved much in a while and that was evident last night. He just couldn't get it going. Had no rhythm, kept ineffectively switching to southpaw. He looked confused. I've seen Fury look bad in the past but I've never seen him look confused.

All credit to Francis though. A hell of a fighter and a hell of an athlete. Really hope he continues to box.

I was incredibly busy with work last night, but got to see the TNT Box Office transmission this morning and it is unforgivable to have such a long break in the transmission. I myself work for a large TV company today and if we have an important sports transmission we always have 2 extra lines or we able able to redirect the satellite signal in 40 - 45 seconds. Weird.
