Tyson Luke Fury vs. Francis Zavier Ngannou

I think at HW Gane and Pavlovich could probably do okay for themselves. Both big and athletic, Gane more technical than Ngannou and Pavlovich seemingly carrying similar power.

Lower divisions are a different story though. Raw size/strength/power/athleticism goes a lot further at HW.

They also had that clown lobov who beat Pauline in bare knuckle

That was humiliating for boxing. Promoters Need to start making these bloody fights happen now, as boxing is sadly a joke

We will never see a boxer do that in mma. Good to see francis winning, but that was terrible for boxing, make no mistake

 

He cannot right that wrong
I don't care if he beats Usyk, Aj and sparks Franics in a round if there is a rematch

Fury lost to a guy making his debut and it cannot be corrected. It would be different if he was long retired, but the guy is WBC champ and many view him as lineal

He can not do anything to fix what happened last night. Mma fans and haters will forever say Fury needed corrupt judges to beat a guy making his debut

It's the biggest L ever in boxing imo. Forget about Tyson losing to Douglas. Or the fat guy beating the bottler. This is even worse

 

The truth is that a lot of these mma guys might have some genuine boxing talent. I’ve seen this one mma fighter from my gym school the boxers with no trouble. If they have a crazy work ethic and some talent it’s enough to beat like 90% of boxers honestly. Wouldn’t give them any real shot at an in shape boxing contender or champion though.

 

I get it now, we all should. It's a generally low risk/high reward for the individual fighter, but a seriously high risk / low reward for the sport as a whole. Go ahead and make the money that comes with it but accept the responsibility to protect the sport on that night. Fury didn't get the memo. They had to hand him a terrible decision to save face for a future event. Did anyone see one of the Saudis talking to Francis in his ear around the time the results were being read? Maybe I'm wrong but I'm sure he got his explanation/compensation promise in the ring lol. Floyd did several of these but I'll give him his props for not allowing anything crazy to happen. Imagine if McGregor would have been able to drop Floyd like Fury was in that fight. We would still be discussing that nail in the coffin to this day. And while I don't think this fight is a death knell for the sport it was highly embarrassing at the least. Fury can make up for it by getting his head out of his ass and making a good showing in this last stretch of his career.

 

If he sparks him out in one it"s forgiven. Come on.

 

Hearn got to push for a AJ vs Ngannou fight. If AJ wins that fight it puts him ahead of Fury in the public eye. Then Fury vs AJ becomes very relevant again.

Ngannou vs Wilder would be for the title of hardest puncher alive.

Either fight would be great.

Better fight than AJ Wilder, we know Wilder chins AJ but Francis seems to be cut from the African diamond.

 

The entire event was a clown show. From the RAP concert to Fury coming out on a throne.
3 national anthems. Delaying the fight for two hours. COMPLETE CLOWN SHOW. The only bright spot was Ngannou's attitude and sportsmanship.

 

Well yeah, Wilder punches insane hard but he has also been stopped twice.

Ngannou punches also insane hard. But he is stronger then Wilder and I think he can take a better punch.

I think Wilder is faster.

In that Fury is vastly overrated. I used to think maybe he had the most potential of any HW because of his size/Dr Eggman-like body, but I'm starting to think I was wrong. The dude was almost beat by Ngannou in what could be considered a pro-debut into the sport. Now don't get me wrong, Ngannou was damn impressive and he did all of that by boxing conventionally without even having speed, but....he's still very highly inexperienced to have done what he did against the supposed king of the HW division. I mean, his best wins are against Wilder, a known can crusher who can't box his way out of a wet paper bag and an old Wladimir who simply was long past it.

What options is there for Fury to prove his 'greatness'? No one wants to see him outbox a guy who can't box for the 4th time. Ruiz hasn't been active and did rather poorly against guys like a shot Arreola and ancient Ortiz. Joshua is mentally shot so who knows if he can even get his confidence back. As for Usyk, Fury has no hope of ever outboxing him. He'd have to win by smothering all that fat over Usyk although Usyk wouldn't fall for it.

And to think there are people out there who really believe Fury has the skills beat the likes of Ali lol. Dude couldn't even outbox Ngannou.

 

You're right. It's surreal to think a human and make a debut and be remotely competitive with the heavyweight champion. It just makes no sense, i don't care what the person's background. Experience has no value? It's just weird. Imagine a dude who just messed around in the gym and trained for 6 months being competitive with Jon Jones. Just weird.

 

I had it 5-5 with NGannou getting a 10-8 round so a 1 point win.

I never foresaw such a close fight occuring between the HW champ and a debutant.
