Would Tyson beat Tyson?

Mike Tyson was decisively a better fighter than Tyson Fury. Does this guarantee victory ? No because despite the vast difference in talent and skill, Fury’s enormous size advantage would make it a very hard fight. I’m not totally sure how this one would end

 

Tyson didn’t seem to have much trouble hitting Ribalta an he was 6’6. Right hands, left hooks an uppercuts, all connecting with Ribalta’s head round after round Sure Ribalta who was tough as hell in the Tyson fight,ain’t quite the fighter that Fury is but I can’t see a peak Tyson having that much trouble hitting fury just because of his height. Yeah an also it’s long being said that Fury is really 6’7 not a exaggerated 6’9

Agreed. I’d hate to pick Fury over Tyson but 6’9” and 270 lbs Is a big gap over 5’11” 220. And let’s face it. For all his shortcomings ( and yes he has many ) Fury isn’t a bum.

 

Ribalta was commonly billed as 6’4” not 6’6”. And only weighed around 211 for the Tyson fight. Im also struggling to think of one honest contender he’s ever beaten as well.

 

Yeah maybe but nevertheless the point was Fury towering over Tyson wouldn’t automatically be a advantage that Tyson couldn’t overcome. Let’s face it just about every fighter that Tyson fought was taller than him or towered over him

 

This ain’t about the comparison between Ribalta an Fury as fighters but that height itself as in the size disparity is not enough to overcome Tyson by itself as asked by the op

 

I believe Fury is 6' 7.

It gives him certain perks, but at the same time: he struggled with fast, skilled men; he got dropped by smaller fighters (he can get up, but it's still a 10-8 round.); and is not a puncher. Prime Tyson has all the tools to take on Fury, who at that point might not get any career-defining performance to prove he was something more that we've already seen, which in my book is not enough.

 

I have to kinda disagree. The way you make it sound is that all additional height is the same as if there is no increase in difficulty between a guy who’s 5’ll” to 6’4” to 6’9”. And in truth the bigger opponents got the more Mike Tyson generally struggled with them unless you’re going to drag names like Dave Jaco or Donnie Long into the picture which should he omitted for obvious reasons

 

nope I was trying to say that Tyson had no trouble hitting 6’6 Ribalta so I couldn’t see how Fury been 6’9 would mean that extra 3inches would be too much for Tyson to overcome

After last night… I’m not sure I’d make Fury a favourite over Alex Stewart
