I believe it was Barbados Joe Walcott that he fought- and Walcott was much shorter- and Smith bit him multiple times on top of his head. Walcott said something to the effect of 'I don't mind him trying to beat me but he tried to eat me.'

 

Fritzie Zivic was as dirty as the come, but when was he actually disqualified?

This tells me that he used dirty tactics, in a smart way.

They benefited him much more than they cost him.

Now Andrew Golota is the opposite scenario.

Pedroza knew every dirty trick in the book and would foul even when he was winning fairly comfortably

 

Lummox Lewis had his moments. He certainly didn't mind holding behind the head and uppercutting.

 

Miguel Cotto was pretty dirty. 2 HARD shots to Judah's nuts. Also in the Paulie Malignaggi fight, Paul m claimed he had bruises on his thighs and legs from kneeguel. Not much sportsmanship either, Cotto broke Paul's jaw and orbital bone and he kept power jabbing it. Whereas a classier fighter would carry his opponent. Paul Malignaggi swelled up like a chipmunk in that fight.

 

I learned a lot about cheating in boxing watching Eusebio Pedroza fight. I thought he was so good and couldn't understand why he even used dirty tactics. I finally just accepted that it is the way it is with him and boxing in general, just a dirty business all around. lol
