Are Fury and Usyk actually the 2 best at heavyweight?

Fury has a problem in his equation due to the fact that Wilder has done nothing of note in recent years. Actually. he's done little of note over his whole career.

Right now, 2023, these top 2 are in place because they have stalled fighting each other, and those below the (outside of odd exceptions) haven't been eliminating each other. Top 2 are almost there by default, rather than by 2023 achievements by what is note late in the year.

Kind of why boxing is losing its (vast potential) mainstream audience ... we're referencing years back in this thread, for justification of a current top 2.

 

Usyk is obviously.

Fury, he's just received a gift decision against a boxing debutant. Right now he's closer to be shot then shampion.

Ortiz > Wlad? Just when you think you've heard it all!

Ortiz resume is pathetic, and without having been in with anyone that good it's difficult to know exactly where his level was... It's too easy to look good against bang average fighters like Jennings (Ortiz best win) or against hypejobs with poor fundamentals (like Wilder) to trust the "eye test" without context.

There's absolutely no way any version or Ortiz beats any version of Wlad, or any version of Povetkin for that matter.

 

Wlad was in his 40s when AJ beat him, which might be worth mentioning.

Wlad is 0-2 against skilled super heavyweights, and was getting outpointed by the pair of them, plus was starched with minimal effort by a fat 37 year old southpaw with some quick hands. And Ortiz is a big punching skilled superheavy with fast hands.

I find your confidence in saying that Ortiz could beat no version of Wlad to be misplaced.

Fury's resume is dogshite, Usyk's not done enough in the division but did beat the guy with the best resume at Heavy twice.

Usyk is, but the fight is well past its due date for both guys.

Hrgovic could fight either Uysk or Fury and forget that he is in a fight and lose.

Wilder has always been garbage.

Ruiz is prematurely aged from morbid obesity and weight loss.

Basically everyone sucks except Usyk, who in nonetheless hampered by age and injuries.

 

Usyk is #1 of course. He schooled Joshua twice and is a dedicated professional like the Klits before him. I would go with Zhang as #2 right now. He knocks out Fury from the weekend.
