Yeah, but day before weigh ins are almost meaningless. You have a full day to get back to your more natural weight. I mean Clottey weighed close to 170 lbs in a WW fight. And P. Williams at 165 or so. What i'm saying is that JT is a big guy. He had difficulty himself making 160 and that's why he moved up to SMW. He's a big guy himself. And Pavlik also has a larger frame that he can easily fill into if he wanted too.

I personally don't think size will be a factor in this fight. If so, very minimal. It's going to be all about Hopkins' stamina.

You could be right. I think it will come down to stamina and how effective Pavlik is at avoiding Hopkins' right-hand counters. Hopkins is a really tough guy to hit cleanly with a big shot. Even Pavlik should have a tough time getting through that defense and the constant holding, at least in the first five rounds or so. I certainly wouldn't make an avatar bet on Hopkins getting ktfo. That's a risky bet.

Makes sense; Popkins is certainly old enough to be Kelly's dad.

He'll show Pavlik he misses him alot by hugging him every 5 seconds

Larry Merchant had a great line once when Hopkins came into the ring with his dumb executioner outfit: "You know, I think he's scarier without the mask".

I agree, I believe the ref that is chosen will play a part in the way the fight is fought. For Pavliks sake, I hope it is a ref that doesn't put up with the holding, someone like Smoger would be great, and it's an East Coast fight, so it's a possibility.

what is this fight for?? the calzaghe fight was for the 175lb ring championship and the no.1 spot, as hopkins beat tarver for it. calzaghe retired him. the fight had meaning.

pavlik is the middleweight champion, hopkins has no title, way way way older than pavlik and is a light-heavyweight. this fight is pointless.

One thing that was interesting in the Hopkins vs JC fight was that Hopkins forced Joe to adjust, which he did then won the fight on workrate.

    Can Pavlik do that?

Or is he so strong that he can make Hopkins fight his fight?

Pavlik's not talented enough to adjust. He only knows one style. And i'm not trying to put the guy down but it's true. So he's going to live and die by what he's always done. Pavlik might overwhelm Hopkins with his youth, activity, and power but there's also the chance that Hopkins boxes Pavlik's ears off because he's so one dimensional and predictable.

I'm sick and tired of dumb people who say Hopkins pulls BS and crap out. People gat to experience being in the ring, moving around the ring and punching with someone like Bernard to have an idea... Then, you can really say something. Otherwise, you will get stuck with the "white boy" trauma forever - it doesn't help you and it surely doesn't help us.

Maybe the first time Hopkins tastes Pavlik's power, one of those fake, chattering teeth like the Joker had in the first Batman movie when he got punched, will fly out and delay the fight.

I have watched Hopkins last 5 fights plenty of times (JTx2, Tarver, Winky, and Calzaghe). These guys are P4P guys and i can honestly say that Hopkins was only hit FLUSH a hanful of times in those fights combined. That's how hard it is for people to hit Hopkins flush. How many flush shots did Calzaghe get in? 5? I know he got in a couple of really good ones but that's it.
