But, when asked who was the best puncher he faced in his career, De La Hoya named Quartey whom he clashed with in 1999.

"His punches were like bricks," De La Hoya told The Ring.

"He hit me and it would sting me. Every punch he would hit me with, it would rattle me."

De La Hoya also admitted Quartey had the best jab of anyone he had faced, saying: "Not only was it powerful, it was very consistent."

    Oscar had a great chin
The guy fought everyone and imo is extremely underrated

I think he gotba little weird when he retired, but the guy was a real fighter and put on some great fights

Boxing would be better of if fighters were like dlh in rge ring. Fight everyone.
My estimation of him as a fighter has gone up due to everyone ducking these days.

If his record looked like it should he would have wins over prime tito and mosley. Losses vs Sturm and maybe another close loss vs quartey or pea.
Had he beaten Bhop or Floyd I would have rated him way higher.
But he fought everyone and should be rsted higher if he got the decisions he deserved.

Quartey had a great jab. I always thought he was a very good fighter.

bazooka gave dlh problems that was a great fight. oscar had a hell of a career. sucks he laid off the gas against trinidad in the last 4 rounds and paid the price.

DLH Said Quartey' punches felt like bricks, they certainly did damage on Oscar's face during their fight. One of DLH many controversial wins, one that should have happened again at some point.

I don't think Trinidad was able to hit him cleanly. If Delahoya was in Trinidads wheel house he probably would have felt differently.

Hmmmmmm ??? But when Margarito gave Oscar that facelift you were sure he had loaded gloves, what s the difference ??? Same was happening in the rematch till that NY doctor stopped the fight to save Cotto having to quit on his knees AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. That would have blown the "loaded gloves" accusations right out of the widow wouldn't it lol
