    ... and then lived most, if not all, of his adult life in the USA. I don't know if he ever went through the citizenship procedures.

    Yes, he was irish-american. But he probably don't even make the top 10 of them, no offense to him but Billy Conn, Packey McFarland... the list is deep.

    I am reading right now that Bob Fitzsimmons was half irish, half cornish (Cornish is not irish ?), so I am confused... he was irish and not british then...

    Tommy Morrison was the best Irish-American fighter.

    He'd break most everyone else named in this thread in half in an actual fight.

    Yes, Fitzsimmons dad was from Tyrone and his mother was Cornish, a Celtic enclave in England.

    You can't get any more Irish-American than your dad being Irish and your mom being Native American. That is the quintessential Irish-American pairing.

    If Gerry Cooney's mom was Irish, I'd be surprised. She appeared in a lot of commercials back in the day. She looked pretty freaking Italian. Fuhgeddaboudit.;)
