Harry wills went up against a lot of guys with a broad range of styles. Some of those men were smaller and quick on their feet. So the prospect of him tagging Ali from time to time isn’t out of the question.
While we would have to make Ali favorite, Wills is the caliber of fighter who we should be matching Ali against, in fantasy fights such as this. He should be ranked above Ken Norton, on an all time heavyweight list. So having said that, does he have the tools to give Ali problems? I am not seeing it myself. Granted we don't have the best possible film of him, but he looks like a man whose style woudl paly to Ali's strengths. That would probably be the key factor, unless we are missing a dimension to him, which we might well be.
Wills would have to be a lot faster of hand and more mobile of foot than he shows on his film clips against Madden, Wills, and Uzcudun to convince me that he could ever meaningfully hit the Ali of 1964 to 1967l
No. Not that I have ever seen or read. His style would have been perfect for Ali to look unbeatable. Match Wills with someone like Ken Norton and we have a different situation entirely.
We don't have footage of prime Wills. We only have description of a quick jabbing, hard hitting BIG heavyweight. Was he Ernie Terrell or Lennox Lewis? I don't know.
