Rightly or wrongly, on a personal level... What are your personal favourites and why? For me... Lewis KO Rahman (after the needle in the build up, revenge after the first fight and, I felt, justification after some fans and writers had been over-hyping Rahman after, admittedly, a good initial victory). Hopkins W12 Tarver (I never liked Tarver after he broke my heart as young Roy Jones fan by insulting and KO-ing my hero!! I also remember him boasting about clearing out the old guard before the fight...) Joseph Chingangu KO Herbie Hide (always, for some reason, hugely satisfying to me seeing the bigger name getting poleaxed on national tv on his 'big comeback')
Broner's loss to Maidana. Broner's antics prior to the fight were annoying, kicking Malignaggi when he was down after the fight was low. Him behaving like the second coming of Mayweather was also worthy of a spanking in a woodshed. Seeing him trying to make himself appear cool in distress by humping Maidana was another case. Maidana knocking him down like a sack of potatoes and having him on Bambi legs was cathartic as hell. So was seeing Broner crying to the ref to get Maidana off of him when he was pounding him relentlessly. And I have never been as satisfied seeing a headbutt as I was when Maidana accidentally butted Broner and sent him crying to the canvas. And after all the relentless whooping Broner received, Maidana deciding to hump him back was the icing on the cake, Broner's career ended in that moment. Of course, Broner's post fight walk is iconic to this day.
You literally just beat me to it. That is the first fight that comes to mind. I will also say I enjoyed watching Ricardo Mayorga lose. He was a classless piece of **** that crossed the line numerous times. I'll never forget when he taunted Cory Spinks about his brother that was killed in a shooting.
I would rather celebrate the winner defeating the classless fighter, and then it is up to the classless fighter how they take it. If they take it with class, then they gain a sort of redemption.
I enjoyed watching Yori Boy Campas, a seemingly real humble dude, make a consummate bully like Tony Ayala quit on his stool. Although I like Nate Campbell, I appreciated his comeuppance against Robbie Peden. Nate committed the cardinal sin of failing to protect himself at all times.

Not to peeve CJ too much but the Margarito Cotto fight part two: Cotto practiced alot of backwards running to get in shape for the pressure toney brought. Tony was fighting well but his punches didn't pack the pop if the first fight. Cotto contacted that eye like a surgeon. Mosley already exposed him, Pacquiao buttered him up and Miguel Cotto put the final nail in the coffin (Margarito was too tough for his own good) it was a beautiful stoppage, smoger wanted it to continue but the eye doctor said he stopped it not too early but In fact on time. Vindication if there's ever been one. Poor Garcia corner literally begging for one more round as Tony was really coming on, but it woulda been a risk to his health.
What a brilliant edit! I’d never seen that before. The “Finish him” insertion was a killer. Talk about karmically asking for an *** whupping with the pre fight antics. Thanks for supplying this. Nice “Hollywood” ending too - “And the winner is…La La Land!” - definitely not a case of reading from the wrong envelope in this instance.
Sometime back I watched the big Cuban Jorge Luis Gonzalez fight a well ridden Renaldo Snipes. At one point in the fight JLG drops his hands and starts yelling at Snipes to "Come on!" Now this was a 37 year old Snipes who was 6'2" to JLG's 6'7". Really brave stuff here from the Cuban beating up this smaller older man. Some time later JLG was matched up with Michael Grant, who curiously, was also 6'7". Strangely, no bravado from JLG, no screams of "Come on!" And Grant promptly took JLG out in the 1st round with an overhand right. I loved it!
I’m still waiting for someone to stray from the script and see the unthinkable happen in one of PBF’s “exhibitions”,- that is, the lights being put out on the self proclaimed TBE. A man can at least hope, can’t he? I don’t care if Floyd is 50 yo when it happens, the “O” must go!
Lewis Ko2 Grant. I thought Grant was the biggest hype job I ever saw in the Heavyweight division. Seeing Golota deck him twice, I knew Lennox would destroy him. Grant seems like a really nice guy, it wasn't a personal thing but I never thought he was the real deal, and after Lewis, his career never recovered, he seemed like he lost all his confidence, when I watched him get brutally ko'd by the much smaller Dominic Guinn.
I just get joy out of any blowhard getting embarrassed. Hugely cathartic. I dislike the modern trend of puffery we see in athletes now, where it's considered necessary, even part of the job, to boast and belittle and try to shock all the time. Just do your ****ing job and fight and shut up about it. A true tough guy doesn't need to try to make himself a show in the prefight nonsense. Just sign on the dotted line and show up on time for the fight, that's all you need to do. Everything else detracts from it. It's more than just boxing, too. The way receivers in football pose in the endzone and do their stupid little dances makes them look patently ridiculous. The way baseball players now stand and watch their home runs leave the ballpark, ending it with a dramatic little bat flip and pointing here and there. Guh. Stop it already. Hit the home run, put your head down and run the bases and get your ass back in the dugout so the game can continue. Oh, and get off my lawn.
