Bivol would offset Benavidez rhythm and constantly make him reset and exploit benavidez when he squares up, Bivol wide decision win.

They have sparred a lot of rounds with each other in the gym and Benavidez claims to have handled and hurt him.

Bivol says sparring is sparring and he just works on things.

If true, Benavidez who likes, respects and rates Bivol highly should've kept it to himself. It was was naughty, wrong and incorrect of him to say those words in public.

One thing which Benavidez did say is that Bivol has a really strong right hand, one of the strongest he's felt.

But apparently, according to the Soviet and Eurasian King haters, Bivol got no pop.

He got some pop he's just small for the weight and he's fought a lot of very tough and durable guys almost all of whom are bigger or much bigger than him, as is Benavidez.

He hurt the way bigger Zurdo numerous times. He came out of the gate and cracked Zurdo hard letting him know that he was the boss in there and when Zurdo tried to impose himself and his size on him Bivol was quick to put him back in his box.

It depends on the condition of each fighter going in, as well as how many times they've sparred.

I wouldn't call it meaningless if David consistently handled him.

It's a styles clash. While I still think Bivol wins - stylistically I see Canelo beating Benavidez more comfortably than Bivol. Bivol will have his hands full and win a fairly tight decision IMO.

Bivol didn’t like it to the body in his fight with Lyndon Arthur

He acknowledged that he felt Canelos power in their fight

Can’t get away with the showy, inaccurate, in and out flurries against a rangy puncher like Benvidez

Hmm?,,First thought is Bivol in a tough fight. But I'd like to see Benavidez in a scrap at 175 before he takes on Bivol. He might as well jump to 175 because ginger will run across the street in heavy traffic to avoid him at 168.

How anyone still supports Canelo beats me. He's Floyd II,he picks the easy ones. Ducks the dangerous ones. Plus has his Vegas henchmen to officiate . If all that was to fail & he pops dirty AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! the Commission will attempt to cover his butt.

I think I favour Bivol against anyone who isn't Beterbiev and even he's ancient now

Until we see Benavidez actually fight at 175 against someone good closer to his own size, i'd have to go with Bivol decision.

That said, Benavidez does have the raw ingredients, but we've not really seen him in with anyone proven enough to say he beats Bivol.

I'd like to see Benavidez @175 against maybe Joe Smith Jr or Anthony Yarde - those would be good barometers of how he might properly fare at 175 against fighters than can really bang. Canelo would also be an interesting yardstick considering Bivol schooled him and many think Canelo stops Benavidez, but styles make fights and unclear how much we would really learn there.

At least Smith and Yarde have the power to trouble Benavidez and see how he fares being more cautious of the return fire.

Andrade was best @154 and IMO didn't have the pop to keep Benavidez honest. Plant lasted all 12 - though he was on his bike a lot, but might be something there that Canelo stopped Plant but David didn't.

Good call on Benavidez fighting Smith or Yarde at 175, they are both pretty much the gatekeepers at that weight and it would be a great way for both of them to be on the center stage again against Benavidez and prove what he's about at 175.
