Plus infinity ... again, the question on the table was not "hardest" puncher or "powerful" puncher or "lift someone off his feet" puncher, it was "greatest" puncher, and greatest is not necessarily or exclusively synonymous with hardest or powerful or lifting someone off his feet.

Correct, I was only thinking of the mechanics, the fluidity. The question of "hardest" is far different.

Wilder. In terms of crude brutal power that is. His offense is so basic he wings away and barely sets anything up. Yet guys are KOed cold. Pure one shot power. Not a fan of him at all but that's how I see him.

Joe Louis had huge power and is number 2 for me, but I view him more as a complete finisher, big power but controlled.

I can only echo what others have posted on this thread.Joe Louis is the most perfect puncher
in history, ( speed, power, accuracy and timing - he had it all ) with Mike Tyson being No 2.

Louis is the "greatest" puncher in the history of the sport.

I could accept Shavers as the "hardest" puncher and would vote that way. Anyone with a unanimous vote via his common opponents with Foreman must be one helluva puncher. He's well down the list when talking "greatest" puncher however. Liston, Foreman, Lewis, Tyson etc would all be ahead of him on the greatness front as a puncher.

If you took Mike Tyson, Fury Tyson, Ali, Jim Jeffries, Larry Holmes ete, and had these men stand in a line, and have Marciano thrown his hardest right hand, he would knock all of em out with 1 swing.

People who voted for Wilder should probably find another sport to watch.
