Fight on the front or back foot?

Fighting on the backdoot and trying to counter punch will get him beat up and swamped with actvity or at least if he doesnt hurt benevidez. He simply doesnt throw enough punches and has a low work rate. Benevidez is elite at controlling distance. Hes got a great jab, and lead right hand and can mix it up. Weve seen him walk down two great defensive fighters in plant and andraded and they have much quicker footspeed then canelo.

    Front foot?

He may be forced to try and fight on the inside vs the taller benevidez. But benevdiez is a lot faster than people think, and slips in quick powerful shots from awkward angles. It would also invite canelo into a barrage of combinations.

I truly see this as a mismatch. The bigger, taller, rangey benevidez is a nightmare style for canelo.

Benevidez is a very big 168lber and knows how to get all his weight behind his shots. Hes a legit 6'2. Canelo is 5'7.

Canelo is front foot heavy. He relies on it to generate power. At this point of his career he isn't going to dance off the backfoot to victory. I see Benavidez hurting him.

Canelo's footwork isn't as bad as he makes it look. His problem is that he loads up on every shot despite not having KO power. If he boxes Benavidez at mid range, he can win. Benavidez has even slower feet and won't throw as much volume against Canelo because of the threat of his counters. Plant and Andrade didn't have power to keep Benavidez off of them and they can't win at close range. Canelo doesn't have those problems.

U think canelo can win mid range vs the 6 2 benevidez?

Have you seen benevidez jab and lead right hand? Hes elite at controlling distance.

His current strategy? Duck Benavidez at all costs. I think it's obvious at this point

I think you’re right, I’m not sure we ever get to see this fight. Crawford will get the opportunity before Benavidez (and I think Crawford loses)

I actually think that Canelo would win, but he doesn't believe it himself

 As do I. Canelo can catch and shoot against Benavidez and hurt him. Canelo's underrated trap setting would offer opportunities to catch Benavidez mid-assault, where he is sometimes vulnerable. At times David stands too upright while throwing his fast combos and I believe that would be a real risk against Canelo.

Don't get me wrong, current Canelo would have real trouble with Benavidez, but if Canelo can have half the success that Plant had, Benavidez would have a very tough night. People also forget that Benavidez hasn't had to go through a lot of adversity to this point, Canelo has.

    Strategy will be:
    1. Hide for four month preperation time Mr. Martin Carefoot
    2. Hide for fight night Adalaida Byrd and Don Trella duo...

I can see Canelo hurting Benavidez in between one of Benavidez quick flurries.

Canelo is built like a Tank and his neck is conditioned to take big punches, so given his style he's got to go straight at DB, Fight on the inside, use his upper body movement to make DB miss and make him pay. DB has been dropped by lesser dudes, I think Canelo can hurt him.
