Name some of the ones we've seen, I'll go with three examples: 1) in John Ruiz Andrew golota fight there was a kd where the standing boxer hit the guy on the ground. (My memory doesn't serve me correct till I boxrec it). All I know is that the guy on the ground was peeved. 2) Roy Jones Jr on Montell Griffin! Quickly resumed what he started before hitting him on the ground. Made quick work of Montell in the rematch. I guess that's the only way he could lose lol at that time! 3) Carlos maussa scored a great ground punch on Vivian Harris ' head. I sworn it was some likeness of ground and pound mma. What are examples can you share or what do you have? Edit: I think it was golota that scored the KD while Ruiz showed off his acting skills.
marquez was hit while he was down by both barrera and pacquiao in their first fight marciano hit walcott in their first fight humberto soto was DQed for hitting francisco lorenzo when he was down
Wilfredo Gomez and Terry Norris - specifically against Carlos Zarate and Sugar Ray Leonard specifically - were well known for hitting a man when he was down. Gomez, because he could get away with it in Puerto Rico, but Norris would just get too excited and jump in on it. I believe it cost him an early career defeat on a DQ over this.
Riddick Bowe vs Buster Mathis Jr. Tim Witherspoon hit Bruno a few times when he was finishing him off. Bika hit Codrington a few times when he was down in the opening round of their classic round, i think he also got DQ'ed in another fight for it aswell. Terry Norris was guilty of it he got DQ'ed a few times for it. Judah hit David Sample when he was on the floor for atleast 5 seconds no idea how Judah wasn't DQ'ed. Lennox Lewis hit Mike Acey 3 times when he was on the canvas that should've resulted in a DQ. Abraham hit Dirrell when he was down in a controversial ending to the fight.
DWC - George hitting Roman on the canvas was a touch and go accusation, imo. I mean the angle of the photo below is clearly deceptive and hardly proof positive or am I taking crazy pills? Jose really got under Foreman’s skin, didn’t he? George fought very angry. https://boxingnewsonline.net/on-thi...ters-the-hopeless-jose-king-roman-in-a-round/
That was the most “devil may care” version of Jones Jr in the Griffin rematch. I don’t think I ever saw Jones so aggressive and always moving forward without too much concern of being hit in return. If Griffin was going to go, it was always going to be from Jones Jr left - from first bell, Roy threw the left more than anything else - clearly his intended money punch - terrific performance and KO by Roy.
True indeed! I am a firm believer in his lyrics to "y'all musta forgot" he fought like a "sucker move stole from a game ****." Meaning rooster moves! He essentially embodied the essence of rooster fighting and brought that into the ring that night!
Tyson hit Don Halpin when he was already knocked out with his ass on the canvas. I always thought a DQ was borderline justifiable but the Don was already done before hand so...
Lucky to not get a DQ...and the new....! Imagine that. King Roman become the worst champ of all-time...in his first defence he loses his crown in a 'revenge' rematch with Jack Bodell!!! And the UK has its first Heavyweight champ since Ruby Rob. ...and all this because George ducked a mega payday vs Joltin' Jerry Quarry.
That’s a more than reasonable extrapolation. Seriously though, reverse the roles of champ and challenger, there would’ve been a far greater chance that Foreman might well have been DQ’d. Jesus, as if Roman wasn’t already well up against when standing on two feet.Bad George. Lol.
These are the two guys that immediately came to mind. The last punch Gomez threw in a fight was when the guy was down.
