Your favorite fantasy fight?

Well at least one of my favourites would be Louis vs Ali, a fight that I think would play out somewhat differently and far more competitively than most people might have it - and to see a 2 to 3 match series between them would be the absolute ultimate, imo.

As to money, I’ll pay a fair bit for this/these particular fights but even with boxing, I have a ceiling to how much any fight could possibly be worth.

Put it this way, I definitely wouldn’t be paying the equivalent of a 2 week trip away in Europe - and I’m sure sneaky HLs (even for fantasy fights) would eventually find their way to YouTube.

 

Tua vs lewis 2, if it happened some short time after their only encounter. Match up of the boxer and the puncher.

 

Holmes vs Foreman would be my number one choice, 2 others would be Holmes vs Liston and Lewis vs Liston.

 

1988 Mike Tyson Vs. 2000 Lennox Lewis

 

It’s always the ones that got away that interest me more than cross-generational matchups.

Duran-Arguello in 1978 is one I’d love to see in a time capsule that doesn’t have an impact on either fighter’s subsequent career.

 

Marciano vs Frazier

 

Muhammad Ali vs Lenny McClean. The fight would have to be according to the rules, referees and ring McClean was used to. No need to worry about judges and scoring.

 

Benn v Jackson at middle 90 . I would pay a lot

 

Round Robin with Dempsey thrown in? Talk about potentially career shortening match ups.

it has to be a lineal progression here, 1937 - 41...

Steele vs McAvoy
McAvoy vs Gilroy
Gilroy vs Zale

but my most exciting one would be Roderick vs Zivic.

and then of course, tons more.

 

Marciano vs Ali.....

 

Why? First fight was boring as hell, pure cure from insomnia. And there was no controversy at all - Lewis clearly won the fight by wide margin. As for Tua being badly out of shape, I don't think it would make things much different had he weighed in 20 lbs less. Maybe Tua would have won more rounds in that case, but he would still lack height, reach, skills and IQ to catch prime, focused Lewis

 

I'm boring here. '66 Ali vs '88 Tyson, with Howard Cosell doing the interviews and the commentary, Michael Buffer doing the ring announcements, and Mills Lane as ref. Specifically, Ali from the Williams fight, Tyson from the Spinks fight.
