No, Eubank losing the first fight to Smith, Benn's repeated BS, it's killed a lot of intrigue, especially after all this time, I never wanted to watch it in the first place.
It's an odd one isn't it? They both seem to think it's a massive fight, but really, is it? Eubank has won/lost against Smith, and Benn isn't liked by the mainstream, outside of the kind of casual viewer that follow YouTubers. Personally, I think Eubank might have been better off going for a title tilt, win, and he's got more options, lose, and it can be spun somehow still The only interest in Benn is to see him lose badly, and I would only then watch a RBR. I would never pay to watch him
I don't know anybody who cares about the fight or even did so the first time round. I genuinely think it'll bomb ppv wise if it happens.
Yeah I can see touts taking a beating in this fight. Had this been on Sky with Hearns chat he would have convinced many they willbe watching Prime Eubank and Benn snr going at it again
" By the time this fight comes around, the whole of the country will drop everything to see these two go at it" Quote by Hearn on IFLTV. Is he for real?? Think he's gonna be in for a shock when the figures come in. Especially if he doesn't get UK gate money
Eubank is winding them up at the moment by not signing the contract. I hope he doesn't sign it and the little sour looking druggie brat doesn't get a massive pay day.
It will be big, no question - not AJ numbers (since he seems to unify casuals and boxing fans) but big enough to pay them both retirement money. You just need to look at the build-up to the first fight with z-list celebs turning up to a red carpet "fight week" booze-up. The sort of people who'd try to get on Love Island or already did. There'll be an audience for this along the same lines as people who pay to watch KSI.
I'm not sure it's gonna happen now, dragging out too much. I think it's best for everyone if it didn't. After all the shite surrounding it, summat would go awry in the build up and it'll be nonsense central again.
See I'm not sure I agree on that last bit at all. The KSI fight had everyone at work talking about it as well as my teenage nephew buzzing for the entire week and making his mum buy it. Nobody I know even mentioned the first fight until Benn's drug test failures became public. I know it's anecdotal and won't be a full representation but if it was really that big then I'd have imagined I'd have heard about it more from non boxing fans like i do for Joshua/Fury/YouTube fights.
I agree. There will be huge interest and the process we have gone through in the last year has made the fight even bigger. Lots of PPVs will be sold to Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn.
You may well be right, the same people I talk to boxing about are aware this new fight is being set up and would watch it; they tend to be people that don't know what DAZN is, though.
Expect an announcement this week from Hearn that there will be an announcement the week after. Rinse and repeat.
