A previous comment has me wondering, what exactly do we consider "elite". This board seems to consider Shakur to be "elite" and "generational" while Ennis is viewed as being really good but not "elite". But based on the eye test, Ennis is a better fighter than Shakur. Ennis has better head movement, a better overall defense (rolls with punches well), can punch, has faster hands, more power, just as good as footwork, can switch, can fight on the inside, and has elite power. Ennis is being avoided like the plague right now so he hasn't had to chance to showcase his skills. But if Tank, Haney, and Shakur are considered elite I personally think ennis should be considered elite since he is clearly more skilled than all three.
Easy ennis has a **** resume and hasn't really beaten anyone of note. If he steps and shows his potential he can then be classed as elite.
Shakur has beaten a few champs and Ennis hasnt yet. I have them basically the same though personally. Ennis has looked more impressive but Shakur a bit more proven...but remains largely unproven still
Who calls Shakur generational? That word is so overused. Boots is more talented imo but we have to see it against better opponents.
Why is this even a question. I think Boots is going to be great but as of now he hasn't even won a world championship. So while his skills have elite potential he needs to do some things first.
Really comes down to the fact Shakur is way more proven at a higher level than Ennis who has a very weak resume. Both guys are clearly ultra talented and I just hope they get the biggest fights out there.
E-Hearn refers to Haney as ''generational'' even though he's the biggest weight bully in the sport, hasn't beaten anyone his size, all the champs he's fought sans Rougarou and Kambosos were old and well past their prime or old and shot to bits leprechauns, and he lost to a 20lb lighter old well past prime leprechaun half his size in the eyes of pretty much the world. And even worse, the only two prime or primish champs he did beat who were closer to his size but still much or a lot smaller were schooled by Maxi Hughes and scraped by on SDs against old inactive Mickey Bey and past prime career 126 Lee Selby, and the other lost to ''bum'' Josh Taylor and arguably lost, was dropped and went life and death against a D level dollar store Haney in their previous fight But back to the topic at hand Resume. Shakur's resume is very poor for a three weight champ and he has only beat two world champions himself but even still his resume is significantly better than Super Boots' resume is. Problem is Super Boots has been ducked and avoided by Spence and Crawford like he has leprosy so he hasn't been afforded the opportunity to prove how good he is at the elite level yet. But the fact two P4P top 10 fighters in his own division have been avoiding him like the plague and are extremely reluctant to grant him his shot proves how talented and how much of a threat he is. I've been saying for ages that Super Boots is the power punching athletic phenom at 147 that Teofimo was at 135 lbeit way more unproven: Very fast, powerful, athletic, explosive, accurate, and skillful but he also has great length and trust me if he detonates on Terry or Errol's chin they ain't taking those bombs and I'll put my testicles on that. And there's no reason he won't be able to land on Crawford either given his physical gifts and speed and accuracy. You can see how talented he is via the eye test alone. Even Stanionis who is a class act and will fight anyone and is one of the few top boys who is willing to face Super Boots said that you can see Super Boots is clearly ''different'' and that jumps out immediately. ' 'Different'' is the best way to describe him but he still has to prove it in the ring against the top guys and questions that need to be answered.
Shakur has proven himself to be the best without question in his division. Ennis hasn't. That simple really.
I’ve seen generational used for Shakur, Tank, this Moton kid, Ennis. Not a single one of them is even at the elite level. But yea, 5 guys all in the same era are generational.
Shakur fights like a coward. Ennis is a killer built for war so in the end he will be more respected.
That’s the way Shakur was trained to fight. The bar is set higher for American fighters so they can’t afford to take losses like the rest.
