Cotto vs Margarito a success!!! Over 450,000 buys!

What makes the number even more impressive is that the fight was'nt even promoted like it should have been, I guess some matchups speak for themselves.

 

Boxing fans are not stupid, their not fangirls who will only buy PPV for certain type of fighters. These buys are still from hardcore boxing fans & probably alot of mexicans/puerto ricans. If the matchup is good, it will sell. Only guys like DLH & Tyson really tap into the mainstream fans and sells just based on name alone. Everyone has to sell on a matchup.

Margarito isnt much a bigger name than Judah or Baldomir yet Cotto-Margo sold more than PBF-Judan/Baldo/Gatti. Thats because people knew it was gonna be a war and worth watching.

 

When I first heard that the numbers for this fight were going to be good I thought to myself besides the Boricuas/Chicanos who were going to order the fight I said the rest of the buys come from true hardcore boxing fans.

Exactly, the hardcore fans who know these fighters background and know their styles knew it was gonna be a hell of a fight. I predicted this would do around 350k but also mentioned it could do over that because it is in a higher weight class (than that of the FW/LW's).

 

Arum stated in 2007 that Top Rank would no longer release official numbers. He will however, continue to throw out figures. It's anyone's guess as to how accurate these figures are.

 

Floyd with either of this guys would bank.

I know that and this isn't my point, just making it clear that PBF had a lot to do with these numbers as did Trinidad fighting DLH and Lewis fighting Tyson.

I noticed that this behaviour is quite prevalent among Floyd fans wanting/wishing Cotto/Margo to fail and not believing that it was a success. I wonder why that is? Perhaps a Floyd fan can enlighten us, please.

that's pretty good bro, if you think about it, manny is supposedly boxings biggest active superstar right now and this did way beyond his last fight....and really, with no real promotion behind it....so you can say that it cou'dve easily done over 600k with bob pushing the buttons...but he let the fighting do the talking and 450k is pretty good considering most fans dont know either fighter....
