GUess I need to see more of Laguna. I will say though, that Rosario's reputation is tarnished now to where the once hailed "Duran of the 80's" is now remembered as a somewhat fragile, one-dimensional banger. The truth is really somewhere in between. But any stalking puncher is going to have stylistic problems with a speed demon like Laguna. Come to think of it, most fighters of most styles are going to have problems with a speed demon like Laguna.
I've always felt Rosario was one of the greatest one-punch bangers I've ever seen, but against laguna he would need much more. Not that Laguna has never tasted canvas, because he has. But he always got up and was never stopped in his career. I see this fight unfolding with Laguna keeping Edwin on the end of his jab, boxing neatly and maybe surviving the odd rocky moment with that Luis Rodriguez/like style of his and coming home at the end of 15 rounds with a very comfortable decision.
Sounds like the most likely scenario. Interestingly, despite his latter-day reputation of being vulnerable, I can't remember a time when Rosario ever tasted the canvas. Howard Davis of all people had him closest to falling, but I don't remember him ever actually suffering a knockdown.
Laguna would have easily beaten Rosario I believe. I envision him boxing the ears off Edwin, being elusive and smart, staying one, two steps ahead of El Chapo, battering Edwin's eyes shut, busting him up and winning a 9th or 10th round tko.
I can see this too. And if there was any like-opponent to Rosario (and by that I mean big-banger) it would be Carlos Hernandez, whom Laguna stopped in 8 rounds.
Bump Interesting fight. I'll take Laguna to outpoint Rosario after a few shaky moments. It'll be similar to Rosario vs Howard Davis Jr but I think Laguna does a bit more on offense and doesn't allow himself to get dropped more than once.
Laguna handedly outboxes Rosario. Seriously underrated Great. In a fair world, he would have had 2 bang prime ATGs on his resume and atleast one HOFer.
Laguna takes a WIDE UD, he was a very good fighter who was never stopped and that is Rosario's only hope
