It depends what you mean by best performance.

Best result, at the elite level, relative to expectations going into the fight? Yes, Stacey vs Napoles has a decent shout.

In literal terms, some of Lennox Lewis's performances, from a p4p perspective, were likely at a higher level than Stacey's vs Napoles, because Lewis at his best was a better fighter than Stacey at his.

 

Joe Calzaghe’s wins over Hopkins and to a lesser extent Roy Jones Jr were pretty impressive.

 

Hopkins, whilst older than Napoles was when Stracey beat him, wasn't as far removed from his prime. In terms of best performance however, this should be balanced with the fact that Stracey stopped Napoles whereas Joe won an SD over Hopkins.

RJJ was further removed from his prime vs Joe, than Jose his vs John, though, imo.

If Calzaghe’s performances against Lacy and Kessler had been abroad, they'd get my vote over Straceys performance vs a faded Naploes.

 

probably Farr vs Louis, if that's not too far back to be considered modern.

 

Honeyghan's win is arguably the biggest surprise result of the 1980s at any weight. Curry was the PfP #1 in the only magazines that did those ratings back then KO & World Boxing- the Stanley Weston publishing ones (Ring only started their rankings when Stanley acquired it) while Napoles had faded a bit by the time he fought John, especially after his fights with Armando Muniz (the first one being a blatant robbery).

I live by John (he's an adopted Northerner these days). He's such a pleasant fella and him and his wife Kathy are always in the local papers doing some charity work and the like. But Lloyd wins this one, i'd say.

 

Maybe not the best but I have to mention two of the most exciting British wins overseas in Nigel Benn’s one round win against Iran Barkley and Carl Froch’s come from behind last round win against Jermain Taylor.

when i see threads i think my own thought (and usually post if i have an answer) before reading what people wrote.

in this case i was very undecided between a bunch of fights.

i was torn between 10 fights, after reading buchanan laguna and froch taylor look the standouts to me.

 

I've always liked John H and his victory over Napoles is one of the best wins for a Brit abroad. As good as it was,though,it takes bronze medal to Honeyghan-Curry and Buchanan-Laguna.


If the first Randy Turpin-Sugar Ray Robinson fight had been in the USA like the return bout,then it would have been well up there in the mix.
