Should Joshua fight Wilder next anyways

I don't disagree with any of this to be honest.

Only to add that I've always had a sense that Wilder's career can be explained in a large part by the intersection of two faults:
1) He's not really a warrior, he's a mercenary.
2) Pride.

It's never been about fighting the best to prove he's the best (as old fashioned as that concept is) - it's always been about making as much money as possible for as little risk as possible, and that's risk in terms of taking permanent damage.

But then twice he's chosen to go back in with guys he knows can badly hurt him (Fury #3 and Ortiz #2)... And it's pride that made him do it, knowing that the world knew he'd been beaten (Fury) or that it was controversial (Ortiz).


So - is he going to risk AJ for less money now when he's been reluctant to do it for far more in the past?
Probably not... Unless... Unless that pride gets to him - and seeing the world had decided that AJ would've beat him all along just might do it??

Nope, I lost total interest in it after Parker beat Wilder. It makes no sense now imo.

 

In hindsight the AJ/Wilder fight should have happened tonight. Dumbasses just had to build it up just a little more. Glad it blew up in their faces.

Wilders groupies should be thankful it wasn’t Joshua in there with him instead of Parker, otherwise the bodybuilder would have put him to sleep.

Todays a good day. I’ve always said Wilder was a 1 trick pony and he was exposed as exactly that.

 

There was no reason Wilder and Joshua couldn't fight tonight, Definitely, trying to milk the fans and it backfired. I want to see Wilder vs Joshua next regardless.

 

I think now Joshua would hammer him and I don’t want to see that. Wilder looks genuinely happy in himself and I hope he retires. Joshua should fight Hrgovic, it’s a good match up.

 

Yeah. if they fought, I would watch, but it wouldn't be the same as if they were both undefeated and 6 years younger.

 

I think the illusion that this would have been a competitive fight has been shattered.

Wilder would get seriously damaged at this point.

 

While it's still a big money fight, though much less than before, no don't want to see it now. Joshua doesn't need the money and Wilder doesn't deserve a shot at the cash cow after that performance. Wilder spent years ducking Joshua and it would be a shame if he still got rewarded with a big money fight after years of shameless ducking and excuses for not making the biggest fight of this era.

If I were Joshua and Hearn I'd simply offer Wilder a flat fee, no split, maybe the same offer Wilder originally agreed to years ago only to back out of when it came time to sign the contracts. Wilder was never the draw and now doesn't have a belt or even his reputation to add to the mix. Would Wilder even be a top 3 win for Joshua at this point? I don't think so, wins over Wlad, Parker, Povetkin and Ruiz Jr probably rank higher than a shop worn, Wilder on an ayahuasca trip.

But the ducking history of Wilder is to be ignored? Wilder spoiled the fight from happening for close to 10 years.

“Parker went out and expected to lose” - he did everything to win. Feinted his way in and controlled the fight in close, eliminating the overhand right by keeping his head on Wilders chest. Anyone with half an ounce of boxing experience could see that from the opening bell.

 

Marinating by the promoters ruined Wilder-Joshua.
