I don’t know. Tough one.. Tommy Loughran had a lot of success at both light heavy and heavy. From 1925 to 1929 he went on an amazing winning streak and beat a ton of notables. Then later went on another streak. Beat at least two future heavyweight champions and a bunch of contenders. While he was on the smaller side and didn’t have much power, he was also very quick, elusive and crafty. These were the types of fighters quarry had a harder time with like Jimmy Ellis, Eddie Machen, Muhammad Ali and an aged Patterson ( who many felt quarry was gifted against. ). Jerry’s biggest strength was his ability to catch guys in the counter punches. I’m not sure a fighter like Loughran would walk into those. With that said, Loughran had the tendency to drop losses here and there to lesser men but when he was on a winning streak he was hot. It’s a tough bet.
