Two of my favourites. Both 8 and 0 & looking for bigger game. Will be interesting to see who they get matched up with. I think it might be prudent to dial things back a bit with Huni but if they don't, someone like Carlos Takam could be in the frame. Aussie Dave Nyika is ready for a few steps up.

Opetaia vs Briedis 2 is on the Fury Usyk card, hopefully for the IBF belt, if the IBF dont come to the table thats a massive **** up by them

Zerafa gets his world title shot. It's official.

He'll beat Lara. I'll be betting on him.

Be amazing if George can pull it off n yeah, correct about aging legends down under so be great if history repeats…
(For the record, as much as I am a Loma fan, go the Aussie)

I've never had the opportunity to post stuff here on this thread. So here is my first bit of information about a smaller Aussie of name of Alex Winwood, who will get a chance to become the mandatory for the WBC belt.

He'll beat Lara but Lara is like a hundred years old. Would he have beaten Lara when Lara was ten years younger? Not a hope in hell.

    Agreed.

HTW is Lara champ at 41? He's no B-Hop. Is that belt like a paper title?

Welcome here mate. Cheers for the post.

But this is everything that is wrong with Boxing. How does a guy with 4 pro fights get a title shot? I'll tell you how. Money. Boxing is all about who you know. Not who you are.

BTW, Winwood is a great fighter. Take nothing away from him. I'm one of his biggest fans. I've followed his career through the amateurs etc.

The point I'm making is there are other guys like The Sam Goodmans. The Jackson England's. Other blokes who have put in hard yards for years and still haven't got their shot. Or who have been stiffed by corrupt judges and officials.

Well I’ll be damned. The IBF have indeed ranked Opetaia at #5 in their latest rankings. Opetaia vs Briedis II for the Ring Magazine and IBF title is loading…

Also, Huni’s opponent is close to being confirmed. Good fight.

I can confirm the IBF have contacted the reps of both Opetaia and Briedis telling them to negotiate for the vacant belt. The funny thing is that the Saudis wanted that fight regardless.

I don’t understand why they took his belt only to give him a shot at it again in his next fight.

    They did him dirty.

The 105 division will also have very little depth in it too, hence the early opportunity.

If they didn't want to sanction his previous fight, no problem. Just don't sanction it. That's no reason to take the belt off him. Particularly when he was agreeable to making the mandatory a month later & the mandatory was okay with the fight going ahead.

Wouldn't have happened in Ray Wheatley's day.

Both Alex Winwood & Paulo Aokuso stated their intention of beating Jeff Fenech's record of winning a world title in his 7th pro fight when they turned pro. Winwood is a couple of wins away from achieving that.

The Strawweight division is Australian boxing's oyster.
