As flawed as he is, Dubois is very exciting fighter, offensive machine, so I'm looking forward to his next fight. I think Agit Kabayel would be a perfect opponent for Dubois in his next fight. It would show us where Daniel really is at the current HW scene. Kabayel is good, skilled fighter with very versatile offence and good ring IQ. And, at the same time, he doesn't look unbeatable by any means. But more realistically I can see Dubois facing rusty and washed up Dillian Whyte on highly advertised Quinsberry vs Matchroom card. Or probably Fabio Wardley, who while young and strong is unskilled and very predictable. Have you heard any info on who and when Dubois may face next?
Whoever they match him up with they will need to be careful. Kabayel beat a decent version of Chisora and Dubois hasn't even proved he's even close to that level. While Dubois is probably better than Makhmudov, I don't think he's that much better that I would favour him over Kabayel, so I wouldn't put him in with Kabayel just yet. Isn't Whyte still suspended due to his failed drug test? Until that's resolved I don't see that fight happening. But a faded Whyte might be a decent fight. Whyte's never had great movement or a good chin, so Dubois might be able to stop him, though it was a left hook counter that put him down against Lerena. If he takes a good left hook counter from Whyte, he probably gets slept. Maybe Yoka, he's still got name value even if he has 3 consecutive losses. His style would favour Dubois as he doesn't know how to counter so is forced to lead and against Dubois aggressive come forward style that plays right into his hands. A rematch with Joyce is always a possibility. While Joyce clearly won the first fight, it was competitive and we now know Joyce can be stopped, but I suspect they'll wait until Joyce is more faded before making that rematch. Wallin's another possibility. He doesn't have the weapons to be a real threat but he's decent enough to give the limited Dubois a decent fight. Ajagba has built some momentum and looked improved in recent fight. Wouldn't mind seeing these 2 bruisers go at it.
He should obviously have fought Joyce in a rematch, but Joyce is fighting that sparring partner because he always takes the big challenges.
Dubois vs. Yoka, I don't give Yoka a chance considering his mental state, Dubois would destroy him and it would be nice to see that con man on his resume…
As Brightonbomber write above they must be very carefull and patient. Yes- Dubois show class performance with Miller. Yes- he show heart and he survive hard moments. But still Miller was 150 kg heavy bag with poor footwork and stamina. Speed of old, rusty truck. Dubois is Young but he was in many risk fight for now. He earn for himself and promotors and I think he deserve to slow down a little.
They should try and build some momentum with him with the right fights, string a few wins together. In the meantime, see how Joyce looks in his next 1 or 2 fights. If he looks finished then push for that fight and look to get “revenge”.
I think Dubois v Wilder could be a fun fight. Dubois isn't as skilled , quick and fluid as Parker, nor as talented and able to use weight advantage as Fury which might give Wilder opportunity to throw more than he did against Parker, its a fight that would require Dubois to be switched on at all times and to think defensively. It would be a good way to gauge what Wilder has left too and if Parker was just a bad style match up for him with his fluidity, or if Wilder can't pull the trigger any more, plus it would mean neither guy is taking a "stay busy" fight against a lower level guy that they'll inevitably win. Just don't know if Dubois brings the money Wilder would want
I have not seen Bakoles name yet. I want to see Dubois V Bakole. That would be a barnburner. Could see it happening. Kabayel would be a good substitute though.
Dubois v Anderson would be interesting. Given the defensive flaws Anderson showed against Prince Chuckles Martin I reckon Dubois would win. Could market as battle of the American and British prospects. But maybe too risky for both for this fight to happen.
He is still quite young, and should dedicate the next couple of years toward learning fights as opposed to stepping up in level prematurely and being stopped again. Fighters like Franklin and Wallin would be ideal.
